Honestly, of the scores up there I have heard, I don't like any of them... I mean yeah, I respect all of them because it is a lot of work to write any music except rap... So yeah.
-
No. I have seen some of those movies, not all, and I know what some of them sound like... And I know what Peter Pan sounds like... So therefore, the ones that I know of are not up to Peter Pan standards so I shan't vote! If I knew of the other ones, I might vote... But I really like Peter Pan, so I don't think I can vote.
-
No Peter Pan? I am forced not to vote!

Oh and dear Harry Potter, that is why I put and I quote: "Yeah right." directly following your oh so eloquent quote taken out of context. And yes, I am quite aware of the "sticking-tounge-out-smiley" to indicate the sarcasm involved with your post.
-
Oh and by the way, Lemony Snicket is not a very noteworthy score... It isn't that great at all, so I don't think it has much of a chance.
-
HOPEFULLY the Academy will take notice to the fact that this may be John William's last Harry Potter score and that maybe he should get an Oscar as, perhaps, an overall accomplishment award. Yeah right. But I honestly think Harry Potter will win. And yes, I thought that for HPSS too... But this is different.

This is an from an interview with Jamie Wylatt (plays Crabbe) Full interview @ http://www.harrypotterfanzone.com/?ID=jwinterview HPFZ: So Jamie, what's the deal? Could you enlighten us about the condition of Franz Ferdinand and their role, if any, in the new movie? JW: There is a lot of news on websites [including the Harry Potter Fan Zone] about them being in "the Weird Sisters" [during the Yule Ball sequence]. However, all I can say is at the Yule ball, there is a band playing music while we dance, but it?s not them! I did hear they are doing two tracks for the soundtrack, but who knows?

http://www.killermovies.com/a/abrahamlinco...icles/4804.html It says it there... I don't know what to think about THAT. Might be good... might not be... :?

Oh I am gonna buy it. It's Harry Potter. I just don't think Doyle could possibly screw it up... Well... hopefully... And let's hope highly intelligent Crocker does not claim the entire score for himself... If Doyle has a slight sense of continutity and lot's of really good new stuff, up to John Williams quality, then it is worthy to buy...

2005: Which movie are you anticipating most?
jamesie replied to Sandor's topic in General Discussion
I voted for Harry Potter simply because Chronicles of Narnia is a Disney movie... And they haven't turned out any really good, memorable movies in awhile. I'm looking forward to a teaser trailer for it. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory looks so odd that I think that I will like it. Johnny Depp looks cool in it. But as of now, Harry Potter tops Narnia. Star Wars will be very good, I am sure. And I'm sure that the score will be very good too. -
Parade of the Ewoks is confused with the pirate theme from Hook in track 7 on the Hook ST. It is recognized... but not known. The new generation of teens don't really care much for this sort of music... but they know it. Kids know (not all John Williams stuff) Homeward Bound Main Theme, Imperial March, Hedwig's Theme, X-Files theme, Duel of the Fates, Chariots of Fire, Jurassic Park, Magnificent Seven, and Home Alone. They can whistle those ones... The ones they say: Oh, I've heard that before... somewhere... are: E.T., Hook, Raider's March, Lord of The Rings, Superman, Close Encounters, and most all Disney music. I just posted this cause this is what I notice kids my age know... or have heard. Anyway.... Yeah.
-
As my past spirted defenses of Hook have stated, if you looove kids... or even like them... then you will like Hook because it is an excellent film, directed towards kids. If it had tried to be serious then it wouldn't have been as much of a classic as it is with families today. So it's a great family film... Give it credit for that, if anything.

RotK is the best score of the 3. I like it and wouldnt care if Shore won for that. But Mr. Williams needs to win. Cause for anyone who simply likes listening to music, music that keeps your attention, music for people who don't say "Oh what a clever note configuration. I do wish he would have used a b-sharp instead of a b-flat though." Harry Potter wins just for fun listening.
-
He needs to win. PoA is much much better than those other scores that will most likely be nominated.
-
Then WHY would LotR win over Harry Potter? There is no way that LotR stacks up to the listenability of Harry Potter, if they are going off of how enjoyable the music is to listen to.
-
--- I'm not saying that Jw's scores are not complicatedly orchestrated. I just think the more typical classical scores do better than the ones that are gr8 to listen to. Not ENTIRELy sure what I mean....... jamesie- in the school library in a 1 hr 30 minutes study hall. No semester test this period. Gr8 fun.
-
IMO, it sucks that these awards go off of how well orchestrated the music is. If its really complicated then it seems to do better. Me personally, I base my music choices of of how good the music is to listen to. LotR is VERY enjoyable to listen to in the movie, but, for me, much less so to listen to on my CD player. Most all of John's scores are filled with awesome themes and awesome music. I could care less about orchestration and composition. That's what the People's Choice Awards are for I guess.
-
So... Has anyone listened to all of the Series of Unfortunate Events tracks on Amazon? Or has anyone bought the CD? Tell me what you think if you have... I haven't got the score yet and am not at all a good critiquer on music... So I'm just curious as to what other people think.

Hey Justin... I joined like right when I turned 14 also (last yr)... But I am no where near your number of posts... So I do wonder if 14 is the youngest age of a member that joined this site.
-
I've been looking forward to the Series of Unfortunate Events score for a looong time and it sounds pretty good... Well the little snippet does... I love the books and the movie looks good. And I think the score will be too.
-
I like this thread! It highlights the youngness of the young people on this site. I am 15... prolly one of the younger ones... James- the vulnerable young one with very little musical knowledge whatsoever.
-
Harry Potter... I was a huge fan of the books and when the comercials came out, I heard Hedwig's Theme and loved the music... and found out that many other movies that had music I loved were by John Williams also... I was hooked.
-
These are the movies I personally feel make big impacts (music-wise) on their viewers, based on my personal experiences... Jurassic Park: Everyone I have every watched this with starts humming the main theme immediately. Star Wars: Even the ?rap? kids at school know all of the songs from the movies. Homeword Bound (the 1993 version): Everyone recognizes the main theme when I play it for them... They love it. Home Alone: All of Mom?s college kids recognize Somewhere in My Memory whenever she plays it in class. Harry Potter: Everyone knows the main theme. LotR: Most all people thought the music was awesome in the movie. ET: Not many people recognize it but after watching the movie, many people comment on the music. I think all of these are movies that had such good music that it inspired the viewers to go out and buy the soundtracks... and for those other viewers who didn?t buy the soundtracks to remember the music, at least.

Will there be a $300 million film this Holiday season?

Jim Carrey looks QUITE appealing as Count Olaf. There are quite a few other "appealing" famous actors that I saw in the trailer.
