Why don't you come up with your own sound that fits the task?
I am not sure what do you mean...
I just wanted to see how such cues sound like.
How could I create ancient Greek music without having any clue?

but when you say 'Greek', do you also think of your own country's folk music heritage...you know, Zorba-type music and that kind of thing?
No. Ancient Greek music hasn't got much to do with current folk music.
I'm searching for source cues for 2-3 instruments, eg. lyre, lute, flute etc. which would be heard in a house/villa..
I started a similad thread at FSM.
That Mime cue from MASADA someone suggested, fitted somewhat the bill.

Is there any soundtrack that has ancient Greek/Roman source music?
I'm listening to some ancient Greek music albums, but they are too complicated. I'm looking for something simpler.

Yeah, I just saw the news a while ago... So disappointing!

The Wicker Man (original) - another 'tis the season rewatch, although after the BBC comedy series The League Of Gentlemen it's impossible for me to take the majority of it seriously any more. Although the ending (ironically) still chills.
IIRC I didn't like the songs. Otherwise, I would have bought the UHD.

Does anyone use any Westwood instruments untamed series?

I browsed through a bit the viola, brass, and winds walkthrough videos, and they sound incredible! I'm really impressed!

I don't suppose anyone has this problem in Cubase, does he?
I have it regularly and it slows down my work progress.

I've found some threads in google, with people with the same problem.

Bus is sort of a track that you route multiple tracks to, so you can affect those tracks, and not others.
so if you wanted to have reverb or something on just the strings and brass, but not the percussion, you could do that, without having to do it to every single track.
Well, the thing I do is make a single audio with all the instruments from all the midi tracks, and put the reverb there.
I know it's probably the wrong way to do, but I don't know any better.

What about WILD SALOMÉ by Jeff Beal, K? Listening to that now, all the tracks surrounding King Herod definitely have a Byzantine vibe.
Ah, I'll listen to it, thanks.
By the way, I got the job!! But, they sent me more of inspiration videos, and apart from some film music pieces from Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams, most are original byzantine hymns!
I am still not sure how am I supposed to "convert" them to film music. This has not happened again to my knowledge.

"... reverb on a bus"?
What on earth are you talking about?
Please explain.
Hehe. I haven't understood buses too, and I don't use them.

I saw AUSTRALIA at the cinema.
I regretted it.
I've tried to watch it a few times, since.
I get about 20 minutes in, and think "I just can't do this".
Yeah, I didn't like it either.
I barely was able to watch the whole thing at the cinema.

You try TODD-AO?
What is this?
edit: Ok, I found it. Unfortunately, it also doesn't do for me. Whatever I use, I like the original (without the reverb) better.
-
Does anyone know what setting should I use in altiverb? What do you usually use to have a nice natural reverb without being too intrusive?
Whatever I use sounds awful to me!

But I'm guessing a duduk or various other regional instruments won't do. It's that specific, zither-like instrument you're after, right?
Well, It's not the instruments I'm after, it's the type of composition/style I'm after. And I don't know anything about byzantine music, although we had some courses in Musicology at the university.
I thought of another example, and I sent it to them. It sounded like having a byzantine color to them:
By the way, I just finished that El Greco album. That one had also some byzantine-like music, more than the examples that you posted above.
But anyway, thanks for trying to help.
-
Talking about Scorsese, The Age of Innocence is one of my favorite films.
-
Yeah, I've heard most of those but they feature mostly Arabian music I presume (maybe that's why I wrote something that evoked Egypt. Haha).
I'll check that El Greco album. I don't remember it.

You've mentioned this again.
Do you mean Revell's DUNE, or Tyler's CHILDREN OF DUNE?
-
So, I made that demo for an upcoming project, and while they liked it, they want it to have a more byzantine color.
I don't suppose there is a soundtrack like this, is there? @Thor?
They sent me this video to be inspired:
I guess I should check this score also?

I have listened to this album.
Supposedly this Halaris, has done an extensive research on ancient Greek music.
