  1. Actually I still don't have TV Omnibus or The Blue Box either but the price on those is too steep at the moment for me. Hmm. i see it's limited too. 2000 copies. Do we have any clue about how many are left? (the cart trick at SAE doesn't work for this) Also does anyone know, if we should expect any new cd for Paper chase + Conrack? Or else i would have to buy a used one..
  2. From the ones that are in print, I still don't have Penelope (I check it regularly), and TV Omnibus. (i don't remember if this is limited)
  3. The G is pronounced as in Good. That's how they pronounce it in Japan. That's how you should pronounce it. End of discussion!! Ok, thanks. We pronounce it here that way too. i just got confused when i heard that guy, and thought that that is the right pronunciation.
  4. So, that means no video of the complete piece? just snippets of the rehearsal? Is that what they meant when they replied to me that they'll post a video? I hope not.
  5. It's a Bluray. Steelbook. I got it from UK. (that's not my photo of course)
  6. I got a note from the post office. I'll probably watch it tomorrow! So excited! I can't stop loving the 80s!
  7. i don't think there will be another version. These are the versions for a long time now.. if you want all 3 cuts, you just have to buy both the US and UK blurays. Since i prefer -most of the times - the longest cut, the US bluray is the version to go with which has the best presentation of it. Please do see it. it's a work of art, with the Goldsmith score, and visually stunning!
  8. here's an exhaustive analysis on the subject about the versions. http://www.figmentfly.com/legend/ i think you didn't understand me correctly. Both the US and UK bluray have the director's cut with the Goldsmith score. But BE CAREFUL!!! If you buy the UK bluray, the director's cut doesn't have lossless audio!! It only does in the US Bluray! I am not interested in the TD score either, but I bought the US Bluray, so that I have the director's cut with DTS-HD MA. Also, it seems the director's cut is the longest. approx. 20 minutes more than the European version. oh, here's more analytically: US BLURAY: Theatrical cut with TD score (89 minutes) Director's cut with Goldsmith score (114 minutes) Extras (both cuts come with lossless audio) UK BLURAY: European cut with Goldsmith score (94 minutes) Director's cut with Goldsmith score (NO lossless audio) (114 minutes) No extras! So, take your pick!
  9. What is the EE EU cut? You mean the European cut? First of all: the are 3 cuts of the film. Theatrical with TD score, Director's cut and Europe (International) cut , both with Goldsmith's score. The US Bluray of the film has the theatrical cut and the Director's cut. The UK bluray of the film has the Europe cut and the Director's cut. (also, the Director's cut is like a Bonus feature here, and doesn't have lossless audio) You can read the review about the US Bluray here: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Legend-Blu-ray/21801/#Screenshots But yes, they say, the theatrical cut has better picture. Well, it has 2 screenshots from the 2 different cuts, so you can compare and see what you like. oh, more comparisons here (of theatrical and director's cut in US bluray): http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/comparison.php?art=&cap1=739&cap2=749&cID=523&lossless=&image=3#auswahl (select a picture and then click 1920x1080 Fullscreen comparison)
  10. I didn't understand what you're asking. I have the US bluray of Legend, but I haven't watched it yet. it's available here: http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Ultimate-Edition-Blu-ray-Cruise/dp/B004QSQML8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373470100&sr=8-1&keywords=legend+bluray (it contains both the theatrical cut with TD score, and Director's cut with Goldsmith score) What is the problem? (By the way, the packaging of the DVD- which I also have- was awesome! i wish they had kept it!)
  11. Which movie is that? It looks like there's a X-Wing on the disc. it's Castle in the Sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWbY_Ete6Zw By the way: I'm curious now that i heard this guy on the video. how do you pronounce the G in Ghibli in US? or in other countries? Is it like Gemini, or like Good?
  12. WOW! I love this! hadn't seen it! Is it custom made? i prefer it 100 times more than the other one!
  13. I get distracted now when i watch an English film with Greek subtitles! Since I understand both languages, it's like getting in my head two languages simultaneously and my brain gets confused! but reading English subtitles while watching an English movie is no problem, and it enhances my experience. But yeah, I guess if I watched a Greek film with Greek subtitles it would distract me too. Also, i don't understand why in some European countries, they dub everything!! That is sacrilege! I always prefer to listen to the original language. I have that with cartoons too. I mean i see many people now who have grown up with Greek dubs in animation films or series and they prefer and love that, but I want to hear the original (even if I grew up with the dub) i was very angry when i went to the cinema to see "Hunchback of notre dame" and it was in Greek dub! and moreover, I knew that something may go wrong, and i specifically asked the cashier if the film has Greek subtitles. But apparently, she confused subs with dub.
  14. It seems early July will become mid-July. (I hope)
  15. Me too! And it seems so peculiar to me when i read in surveys etc. that Americans don't like subtitles, and they always fear in the industry there about foreign films in the box office.
  16. Oh, i saw this recently too. And i agree. I found They died with their boots on much better, and of course The Adventures of Robin Hood.
  17. Oh, i want to buy the Bond too!! But i'm waiting until i have some money. And all the Ghibli blurays, the japan version, in which i love the packaging! (although it's very EXPENSIVE!)
  18. My most recent blind buy, which I haven't received yet, is this: But from the looks of it, I think i'm not gonna be disappointed again. If i buy films that i haven't seen, they're always in a genre that I love. (So, I'll probably never blind buy a comedy, a horror, a sports film or a western. )
  19. oh, did you see my post here? i watched it yesterday! http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20559&p=915834 I guess it's not a film for everyone and I wouldn't suggest a blind buy, although I loved the film. The quality of the picture is excellent! Oh I'd never buy a film I've never seen before, I can just rent it very easily from netflix, the library, redbox, whatever. I'll check it out, my GF might like it too. Looks like it has a young Joseph Gordon Levitt! yes, but only for few scenes in the beginning. So, really, you haven't ever bought a movie that you haven't seen? I did it twice, and thankfully i wasn't disappointed. (also if we count films that I had seen in my childhood and didn't remember anything, i may have done it 4 times)
  20. B&N Criterion Sale has started!! (up until July 29th) 50% off in Criterion BLurays. My purchases will be: Charade Badlands (although I haven't seen it but I love Malick) The lady Vanishes or On the Waterfront (If i can afford any of them)
  21. oh, did you see my post here? i watched it yesterday! http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20559&p=915834 I guess it's not a film for everyone and I wouldn't suggest a blind buy, although I loved the film. (if you liked Legends of the Fall, I think you'll like this too) The quality of the picture is excellent!
  22. I already of course own the DVD anthology box which has the same extras (I think?). But anyway, I don't think I had seen them back then. I don't find the time. I want to watch so many films. The only extras I have watched on their entirety are those of the E.T. Bluray. And i think of the Indiana Jones DVD box set. There are a couple of new ones in the Bluray though.
  23. that! I will buy it nonetheless (i can also download english subtitles from the net and watch the blurays on the fly with them), but it's just that i'd prefer they would be already included. edit: ok, I just bought it along with the Braveheart 2 disc steelbook (which is one of my favourite films) (i was keeping the money for B&N Criterion sale ) Wow! look at that screenshot comparison: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/index.php?art=full&image=12&vergleich=braveheart&action=1&lossless=0#vergleich I LOVE Blu-rays! off topic mode on: I still have fond memories of Aliens (don't we have a nostalgia emoticon here?). i caught it in my childhood on a local TV station in my hometown from 2nd-3rd minute and on, and I watched it until the end. I didn't know what it was its title! I was very impressed by it! Then I saw Alien 3 at the cinema (I LOVED that too! I don't understand why people don't like it), and I think after that I saw the original Alien.
