  1. The Tree of Life

Although I love Malick (especially The Thin Red line), I cannot "get into" this or feel it, still on my 3rd viewing.

But, it's very beautiful to look at (perhaps his most beautiful film).

I have purchased the Criterion edition which includes an extended cut (50 more minutes). Perhaps I should watch that one too, in case it doesn't feel so disjointed.

edit: By the way, I don't think I heard one single note of the Desplat score in the film.

Our local Mediamarkt has a big display with open jacks so you can try them all out, that's how I chose mine for pretty cheap. If there's a similar opportunity at a store near you I'd definitely do that, at least to start.

    Unfortunately, no...:(

    Update:

    Message from the store:

"It is uncut, the film here is in the public domain and I paid a fortune to find a copy. It is from a tv showing from 30 years ago I believe and is uncut, or a directors cut as it is longer than the running time on imdb."

Do you have the capability to take screenshots?

I would be interested to see the quality when you get it.

  4. Also, please verify someone, does the anthem of evil appear in the film (besides the end credits)?

    I didn't hear it anywhere...

Apparently  some people consider the trio theme to be the b section of the Rise of Skywalker theme but I don't know if that makes sense

I'd say they are 2 different themes.

The trio theme is the theme from the new themes that appears most times I think. So definitely not a b section.
