I'm a member of a facebook soundtracks group, and we had our own "best of 2023" scores!
https://www.itscorez.com/index.php?route=journal3/blog/post&journal_blog_post_id=38
As you see, The Universal Theory for me.

I have seen Robocop 2 twice, but I don't remember the score.
Is it that bad?

Wasn't Matrix 4 a flop?
They want another now?

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS is a truly great film, to be sure, but what has it got to do with the Easter story?
Well, the film is almost a yearly tradition here too on Greek TV. Generally biblical films are played around Easter.
Even Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor.
Of course I don't watch these on TV, I can't stand the ads and the quality, I watch them on my purchased blu-rays!

Does anyone know what instrument is the one that starts at 0.11''?
The written score says "ethnic flute", but it sounds too general to me. If you ask me, it sounds like a duduk? I don't know.
And is there something similar in a sample library?

WOW! If you love 80s Horner, you'll want to hear this! And it's for a short film!

Not familiar with the store. Is it mainly region A releases?
Well, it's situated in USA. But they ship internationally. Now, it's another story what I'll pay at customs!
The Warner Archive releases I think are Region free.

Brilliant script (can you believe that the man who wrote this also wrote THE SWARM?!)
I have never seen THE SWARM.
I want to, because I like disaster movies of that era, but I have heard bad things about it from many sources..

I just got my first Neumation book (Krull).
I wanted to ask, aren't these sealed like Omni and Chris Siddall's publications?

A facebook friend of mine said that this was Kilar's Dracula 2, a masterpiece, the best score for a TV production ever.
I am not sure if it holds up to that title, but it sure was great, with Dracula-like chorus pieces, minimalistic of course as always with Kilar's music.
In Kilar mode again. The vocal theme was sublime.

I am not sure if this comment would be considered racist (if it is, please delete it), but a black Hercules?

Just listened to this too.
While Sarde isn't great in my book like let's say John Williams, with easily recognizable melodies, he never fails to deliver good music.

In case anyone wants to complete his blu-ray filmography of John Williams, Penelope and Not but the Brave are part of a sale at Movie Zyng, where you can buy 4 Warner Archive blu-rays for $49.
https://www.moviezyng.com/sale-items?microstoreid=158
(I want 40-50 titles from that sale, and don't know what to pick first! But those 2 movies, are not part of what I want)

It has some very good moments, but honestly I found it uneven. I expected more...

ALL IS TRUE - A beautifully directed and acted film by Kenneth Branagh about the old Shakespeare. I loved it.
Never heard of this.
How is the score by Doyle?
edit: never mind. I just listened to it at spotify.

I have seen the film once or twice, but honestly I don't remember a thing about Barry's score.
I am not sure I even noticed it in the film.
-
I would love Gerard Butler, but I guess he's too old? (54)
My next choice is Tom Hardy.
-
Exquisite, elegant score with nice melodies.
The thing is I didn't catch any recurring theme on first listen...

From the cover, it might look like a cheesy comedy, and perhaps it is. But one shouldn't be fooled by the cover. Remember how WE'RE NO ANGELS, despite its cover, housed a rollicking George Fenton action score? While this is no action score, it's a gorgeous religioso score that channels wonderful, lithurgic choir. No comedy in sight. I'm ALWAYS sold when it comes to this religious sound, so this quickly rocketed into my top 10 Sarde when I discovered it a few weeks back.
Just listened to it too.
Wasn't so interested in the choir music, as it sounded more like source music, but in the rest. Quite good music!

Another expensive purchase from ebay!
I really should purchase blu-rays as soon as they become available, and not to wait until they become OOP!

2 extended cuts?
I only know of one, which is available (I have this release https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cinema-Paradiso-Blu-ray/170340/), but I haven't seen it.
I have read that it ruins the movie and the pacing, which of course I love.
