Apparently it is indeed due to youtube's compression algorithm, as the uncompressed original 2gb file has grain.

I don't think though that there is anything substantial missing that will change your opinion of the score (having made a complete edit long ago from the blu-ray).
 
Anyway, if there is no John Williams in this batch, I'll be disappointed (I only purchase Williams at this point).

I remember when Trevor Jones came to Athens, someone (or it was him?) said that he was asked to write a Last of the Mohicans kind of theme for Cliffhanger, and that's why the theme reminds it a bit (in its beginning).
I enjoy the movie very much. I don't remember anything of the score, apart from the theme.

Oh and @filmmusic you may want to wait and see if Shout Factory unveils a 4K, as it’s mentioned they are issuing a vinyl record of this. They often do bundles with their home video releases and vinyl releases. 

It says in the description that it was used for a temp track for that film. I don't know if it's true.
