  1. Have you contacted them with order number, etc, and asked them what the hell's going on...? Might not be entirely their fault though - it's delivered through some 'trusted partner', not directly from Amazon.
  2. 3 It's the first I've heard of most of the ToD score, and overall, there's so much music in vastly improved quality that it's a great buy. But, whether they be financial/master tape/legal issues, they messed some stuff up that keeps it from top marks, and should've got someone else to select/edit material who didn't have Williams' tendencies in mind.
  3. Not sure about them, but HMV started dispatching on Weds. Mine hasn't turned up yet, so it looks like I'm looking at a very long weekend. Has Amazon UK cancelled all pre-orders then and tried to charge a higher price?
  4. Dammit Laurent! My set will either arrive today or Monday, getting it delivered to work
  5. Do you mean 'in contact' with Universal as in you're connected professionally to them in some way, or you've just sent them a polite letter...? I don't mean to come across cynical, but I don't think requests like this generally work.
  6. It's supposed to be a sleeping pill. What?! I love this score. There's definitely more music in the media kit, I did a calculation a few days ago: the streaming music (same as the CD) is 45 mins. The media kit is 1 hr, 5 mins, so there's about 20 minutes of music, at least, not on the CD. Depends whether the kit is the complete score or not. I'll probably buy this and fill in the gaps with the mp3s.
  7. Me too And I listened to the first 20 mins or so of ToD on the journey home today--- aweesommmeeee
  8. I think the two styles are very different. The UK version is something I genuinely could picture happening in an office - I don't know how well the Americans here know UK culture, but it's scarily similar. Plus it helps that Gervais has a very similar personality to his character - I don't think he's acting some of the time. Plus, there are some scenes where Brent is actually shown to be doing some real work and making an effort towards it. I've rarely seen Michael Scott do anything even remotely productive, and when he did, it was usually fooling around and trying to win some bet. Now I know there are some really daft characters in the US, but even so, it's the lack of true realism and exaggeration of everything that makes it different IMO, and why it's survived for 5 seasons.
  9. Where'd the last 3 days go? (yes, I saw the announcement) Roll on 17th........ new Doctor Who CD is out, and there's something Williams related too.
  10. I think I really don't care. Keep the DCC version if you don't like Concord's presentation - we're already keeping one track from it.
  11. Damn reviewers and advance copies... But thank you!!! That's one of the finest 50 seconds of film music I've ever heard. Period.
  12. Wowwwee... BTW, anyone else hear an edit in the Crusade 2 sample at 0:13? Probably just takes being merged, but does jump out a little.
  13. WTF!? You'd rather listen to POTC over and over again as apposed to Star Wars? What the hell is wrong with you man? You deserve this: Glad I'm not the only one who just doesn't get Star Wars. It's good, but I just don't find myself ever listening to it. Not that I advocate PotC in its place of course... maybe LotR. The thing with alternates like The Map is that on one hand, Laurent is trying to recreate Williams' original intentions, but surely he must appreciate that we all get attached to what we hear in the film? And that deciding to use a wildly different take, just because it was the first one ever written, just doesn't work for a listening experience? Tracked bits are clearly different and debatable. If it was just a straight edit between a few takes, I'd rather have that, but with something else, such as the Marian insert at the start of the Jungle Chase, I wouldn't want something that was lazily cut on top of the existing recording unless it mixed really well, or was an important musical moment.
  14. Jason, I'm in the same boat as you. They just don't play, even with the latest WMP. May be some firewall issue, no idea. I'll try again at home, and record them if they work. It's certainly a bit concerning. Williams' microedits have no business at all on an expanded album. I had this problem initially with the RotK CR - little 'originally composed' bits here and there, but I knew they would only be alternates, not microedits. Desert Chase better not have been an omen.
  15. Should we put the hospital on alert? Fortunately I wouldn't recognise an alternate from ToD without watching the scene in question several times in a row.
  16. Stupid clips won't play from work.... grrr. 4 hours to go. Well, any modern score will exist inside the computer. They just think this is a nice way to cash in on the IMO undeserved popularity of the film. And yes, getting this score released complete before most Williams scores is a crime against film scoring IMO. Honestly, nothing at all, anywhere in that movie composed by Zimmer made me think 'I want to hear that piece of score again'. Even JNH's parts are some of his less interesting work.
  17. Hey, welcome to my, and other Brits' world! We're waiting an extra week and you don't see me complaining.
  18. And are we absolutely sure there won't be any screensavers or collectible Indy stickers? The experience isn't complete without them!
  19. Just found this over at FSM: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JUn0CjhV4wk&...feature=related Really good and insightful 7 min clip with Mark Isham.
  20. Indeed. I think it's one of Williams' most atrocious albums personally. Misnamed cues, repeated material, and still enough room to put on the whole score if Williams had just let someone else do it. Up there with PoA's collossal waste of space known as Mischief Managed. I think this is an excellent thread, particularly with Williams albums. Up until recently I had no idea what the cue 'Death of the Messenger From God' from the LC boot was scoring - then I saw the respective track on Concord.
  21. Something good being released? I've ordered with HMV and am avoiding getting excited - just patiently waiting.
