  1. From JW's liner notes of the Original STAR WARS DLP release: "For "Ben‘s Death" I used part of the Princess Theme in the beginning. l felt it had the most sweeping melody of all the themes in the score. This wildly romantic music in this tragic setting represents Luke's and the Princess' reaction to leaving Ben behind." So form trumps over content. The music doesn't fit thematically but for JW it just sounds better. (Which reminds me of someone at this board calling the use of "The Arena" from AOTC in the scene where Anakin leads the stormtroopers to the Jedi Temple in ROTS "inacceptable". Sounds to me like the kind of people who would tell Picasso to "use a bit more blue here"...) As for "Duel of the Fates" when Anakin rides his speeder bike across the desert in AOTC: It's music for a Jedi being seduced by the dark side. It's a perfect fit. Why object to it?

  5. The LP "Rhythm in Motion - Johnny Williams and His Orchestra" was released by Philips (SBBL 669/847162) in 1961. Here are the front and back cover of the LP: For more information on "The Early Years", check my website The JOHN WILLIAMS Collection
  6. I started this project on Jan 10, and a month later there is a really fine collection of piano recordings available at my website. Thanks to those who sent me their work! Today Andrew Hewitt from London contributed five pieces to my download section. You can now listen to piano renditions of - Princess Leia's Theme (Star Wars) - You Are The Pan (Hook) - Theme from JFK - Remembrances (Schindler's List) - Artificial Intelligence I'm also very happy about a new viola solo my wife Katrin performed. Go to "Viola Solos" and listen to "Monica's Theme". You can find my website here

  13. Here we go again... Oliver just recorded a wonderful piano rendition of "Hedwig's Theme". And then he did something very special - he mixed Katrin's viola solo and his piano solo to create a hauntingly beautiful version of "Fawkes the Phoenix". Both tracks can be downloaded at my website. Thank you, Oliver!
