Several of us are going to see Carrie on its 45 Anniversary. As old as I am I was not old enough to see Carrie in the theatre without my parents.  I have never seen it on the big screen. Grest movie with a great score.

The Frankenstein makeup has stood the test of time. But it looked its very best in the original Frankenstein.  It is film genius.

Indeed, West Side Story is about racial divide.

    But the music is horrible.

Its about racial divide. But it is true Americana.
If any director can improve on this, or at least put his own stamp of it, its SS.

The first Dracula is experimental. Its a silent movie with sound essentially. It seems slow.  The spanish film is better but the Dracula always looks like he is farting.  Frankenstein is superior. The Invisible Man is a hoot. The Mummy is amazing.

I plan to watch Abbott and Costello Meets Doctor Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde with Boris Karloff. Its in black and white which eliminates 90 of the posters here from ever watching it.

First: This is why if I really want to see a film I need to see it in the cinema. Watched the first half somewhat undisturbed, took a break for family things, watched more and finally finished it on my phone. I supposed it's a testament to the film that it was as powerful as it was.

I hadn't remembered who the director was or the composer (although answering one would have answered the other). It was a sparsely scored film although what score there was seemed surprisingly melodic. Then it got to the scene in the last half with the village at night and Newman just lets go. The restraint of the film prior to this really pays off. I just lost it.

I think it was an amazing film. It is both helped and hindered by its "trick" of the uninterrupted shot. I do wonder if I would have noticed it if I hadn't known about it up front. It speaks to how well the film works that I was able to forget about the gimmick and let it pull me into the film.

When this came out I wanted to see this and Ford v Ferrari. I regret that I missed them both in the theater.

Sprawling, gargantaun and pretty much everything I expected it to be. And yet...it feels kind of empty...hollow, even. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I loved it. At the very least, it definitely has a third act problem.

Also, this film deserved a better composer. God, with all the soaring visuals, the score is really such an unimaginative turd.

Answering yes is the cowards answer.  Movies are an ever evolving craft. They don't necessarily speak to all of us but they speak to those its meant too.  The overtly cynical JWFans here will say yes but they are incorrect. None of us here see 99% of all films, hell none of us see more than probably 10 % of the films released each year.
