GREAT FIPMS IN ORDER OF GREATNESS, Star Wars, TESB, TFA,

JUST OKAY MOVIES,  ROTJ, TLJ, SOLO

    MEDIOCRE FILMS, TPM, R1

SHIT films, AKA LOSER FILMS,  ROTS,  AOTC
Star Wars is easily the greatest film and by far the greatest score of the series. Life is so much better because Star Wars exists. Not anh.

Temple of Doom. Truly gorgeous film. Spielberg has few films shot this beautifully.

But all of that is to achieve a visual result. They don't each exist within a vacuum.

Joe's arguement has merit that the films mentioned didn't move him because they're visually flawed. Fair enough. But of course you're free to look past those flaws and view it as a "scripty" movie rather than a work of visual expression.

I hear there are several intense sequences where you are not sure if Han, Chewie, or Lando will survive. Sounds exciting. I wonder if he might challenge that Kessel run, probably not.

Complete scores-tend to be less-than the sum of their parts when listening experience is factored in.

One is the greatest comic book film of all time, the other is a really okay batman film. One has a top 3 JW score the other has Prince.

Oh yes. Perfect entertainment. No superhero film is better acted. None is better scored (this particular isn't even open to debate), Greatest opening credits, greatest comic prologue. And the total embodiment of the greatest superhero of all time.
Sure there are films with better effects but thats easy.

Prince is a pop music genius and he provided outstanding songs for that film.  I still put on "Partyman" when I just want to feel good.

JoeinAR reacted to Thor in I lost ALL my music and ALL my Williams research!
Long story short: Needed to format my computer. My external HD with the backup data fell to the floor (and was ruined) before I could finish re-installing, and before I could transfer any of my digital music (about 1600 albums worth). Including the Williams research documents and rare films/TV shows that were all stored in the John Williams folder.

It's all been rather depressing, but in the following weeks I might need help from some of you hardcore JW researchers that I've received various data from in the last 5-6 years, to re-acquire some of this. Just as a heads-up. Thanks!

First things first: Where is the thread with links to all those JW interviews over the years? I can't seem to find it in the search engine.

Avengers: Infinity War - Still processing this, but wow just wow. It's rare to see a superhero film get me so emotional. Thanos was also a fantastic villain. I'd say more, but I think people should just see the film. I enjoyed it a lot. - 8.5 / 10
  25. Thanks
