  1. Congratulations, John Williams! But I won't be holding my breath. I'm not gonna fall for the Oscars again, after over 25 (!!) years of hoping. I pretty much gave up after Azkaban.
  2. That said, I was in Germany a few months ago, when I ordered MR. It took 6 weeks or so to arrive. The post office hadn't delivered it and had forgotten to leave me a note that it had arrived. Maybe it's generally a European thing.
  3. One of the Oliver Stone movies... It's about time! Born on the Fourth of July is over 30 years old now!
  4. JW's Mecha World expresses the industrial, faceless, and mindless world of the dystopian future, I think... Underneath the busy bustle there's something absolutely cold, ruthless, and ultimately terrifying about it. A sense of inevitable doom and senselessness. JH's piece I don't know well enough to judge, one way or another. @Bayesian
  5. Where is the skip? I didn't notice anything. Do the Dutch have the worst postal system in the world? I always seem to read only the Dutch complaining...
  6. Not media in general, mind. Specifically the corporate, state-run mass media, and even specifically the so-called corporate, state-run "Western" mass media.
  7. Washington Post, along with The New York Times and several other "big names," are among the worst propaganda newspapers in existence today. Rivals Goebbel's propaganda in Nazi Germany, and that's no joke. If you are totally ignorant and clueless, you might believe the opposite. That said, I didn't even finish reading the quote about JW. No thanks!
  8. While growing up, and especially right after Jurassic Park, I was convinced Alan Silvestri was a pseudonym of John Williams! Because of this piece:
  9. Hmmm, I gotta relisten to that one. Maybe I'm missing something. So what are some of the other highlights, except "The Presses Roll"?
  10. What's so great about The Post? Seriously. Just curious, because I find this to be mediocre Williams at best. And a mediocre movie, too.
  11. It's easily War Horse or The Force Awakens for me. I voted for the former.
  12. The most I would ever be willing to spend on a CD is probably 100 Euro. Over the years, I spent that much (each) on the OST albums of Jaws 2, Dracula, The Poseidon Adventure, and The Eiger Sanction.
  13. For a recent purchase, I have had my package sent to Germany. It took me about 6 weeks to get it. No, record company did everything correctly, it's just that the post office where I stayed kept the package for 4 weeks (it was held about two weeks in customs before that), then neglected to leave a note telling me that it had arrived. On top of that, I had the pay almost 20 Euros customs fee (or whatever you call it). Whatever. That's just the way it is.
  14. This is very likely the last Star Wars score from John Williams ever. In our lifetime and in all the history of humanity. This is it. It better be great!
  15. Is this your first time listening to Earthquake? Or do you own the OST album or maybe John Williams Film Works, which also includes a few tracks from this movie? I absolutely love the jazzy, catchy, and somehow urgent Main Title! Unfortunately in the movie they cut out the best portion...
  16. Yes. And if I am not mistaken I own both. I just listen to The Fury so rarely, I'm not 100% certain, but I think so!
  17. I guess I'm one of those people who can really concentrate on one score... Similarly, I never read two books simultaneously, either. Just too distracting. But thankfully, my JW albums won't go anymore. Once I'm done with MR (for the time being), I'll turn my full attention to TROS! Maybe it was, at that. Kinda like "Yoda's Theme" cameo in E.T. sort of thing. Here we have the mystery theme from AotC making a cameo in Minority Report! Yes, one of the all time best! And that goes for both JW's piece, as well as Tchaikovsky's!
  18. And then, after "Everybody Runs," slowly over the years, I discovered the other highlights... "Anderton's Great Escape" "Spyders" "A New Beginning" "Minority Report" "Sean's Theme" But "The Greenhouse Effect" is good too. Slightly reminiscent of the mystery theme from AotC...
  19. I remember shortly after getting the OST album and seeing the movie on DVD (I didn't see it at the theater), being so impressed with "Everybody Runs"! Just that one track, I must have listened to over 100 times that year alone....
  20. I can't stop listening to Minority Report, either! I haven't really started listening to TROS even. I'm gonna wait until I see the movie. Oh, and I haven't even ordered the Disaster Boxset yet.
