  1. But that was just ONE album. Imagine what JW earned with 5 (so far) Star Wars movies and the 3 Harry Potter installments. Horner had only ONE comparable hit, to wit Titanic. But then again (to give Horner some credit) he's a few years younger than JW.
  2. Shore gets 2 Oscars for LoTR, Williams gets none for HP? IT'S SO UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Wonder what he'd be like as a film composer . . .
  4. Well, if it's USUALLY 5% of the whole budget, I have an idea that John Williams gets more . . . perhaps even as much as 10%.
  5. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Josh.
  6. Here's the source (dunno if it's true, though).
  7. Do you think salary is dependent on length of the score? Like (I dunno) maybe 10,000 $ per minute of score heard in the film? That would mean JW got the same salary for Saving Private Ryan as for TPM, which seems quite ludicrous. Just a thought. Oh, by the way, if Alan Silvestri makes 1 mil. on CAST AWAY and Elfman makes 3 mil. on HULK, I could easily imagine JW making 20 mil. on a HARRY POTTER installment.
  8. Does anyone know how much money JW gets for scoring a STAR WARS movie or a Spielberg movie (CD sales not included)? Just curious.
  9. What I meant was TPM. John Williams wrote the sequel to the prequel to the original Star Wars -- AoTC!!! About Superman and Gidget, I'm not sure!
  10. What do you mean "would have been"? The nominations aren't decided yet. I certainly think that PoA is worthy of a nomination, if only because it's very likely the last score by JW for the HP series. Also, I hope JW gets nominated (and wins) a BEST SONG oscar. I think he's been nominated twice in that category before (Home Alone and Hook; nothing else comes immediately to mind), but has never won, which is a shame!!!
  11. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself!
  12. Didn't JW get beaten out by Vangelis once already?
  13. I think John Williams's got a good shot at being nominated for BOTH Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban AND The Terminal next year. What does anyone think?
  14. I meant the last piece of music by John Williams that was heard in the HP series!!!
  15. Call me a sentimental fool, but whenever I listen to Mischief Managed! on the PoA soundtrack, I get sad, thinking this is the last piece JW wrote for the HP series . . . Highlights of the entire series: Hedwig's Theme Harry's Wondrous World The Quidditch Match Fawkes the Phoenix Chamber of Secrets Dobby the Houseelf Double Trouble Buckbeak's Flight Mischief Managed!
  16. Even if they don't realize the importance of having been in movies scored by JW, they eventually will. I think right now they're too caught up in their own stardom, which is quite understandable.
  17. Yeah, but there was something on JW on the CoS-DVD, too. As brief as it was, I was pleasantly surprised to find SOMETHING!!!
  18. Maybe this has been discussed before on this site, but does anyone know what JW-related extras there will be (if any) on the new HP-DVD? I sincerely hope there will be SOMETHING, maybe a footage of JW conducting the children's choir singing Double Trouble, or the orchestra playing Buckbeak's Flight or Aunt Marge's Waltz. That would be so awesome! Is that too much to hope for???
  19. 1. Which actor has NEVER played in a movie scored by JW? a. Kevin Bacon b. Robert DeNiro c. Jack Nicholson d. Johnny Depp e. Tommy Lee Jones 2. Which actress has NEVER played in a movie scored by JW? a. Michelle Pfeiffer b. Geena Davis c. Sandra Bullock d. Meryl Streep e. Sissy Spacek 3. JW wrote the music for the sequel(s) to the following movies: Jaws, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Home Alone, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Which movie is missing from the list???
  20. 1. Emma Watson. She's a girl to be envied. She's the only actress who's played leads ONLY in movies scored by JW. Up until now. I think she's got a great career ahead of her. 2. Harrison Ford. 3. Chris Columbus. On HP3 he acted as producer as well as an uncredited co-director. I think JW really enjoys working with CC and that part of the reason he agreed to do HP3 is because CC was still on board. Good guessing, everybody!!!
  21. 1. Which actress has (up until now) played leading roles ONLY in movies scored by John Williams??? 2. Which actor has played leading roles in movies scored by JW EIGHT times??? 3. Which director has worked with John Williams a total of 6 times??? (Hint: Not Steven Spielberg, not George Lucas, not Oliver Stone) JOSH
  22. Fellow John Williams fans! What's your favorite JW-score of the new millenium (2000 - to date)? My list is: 1. Star Wars: Attack of the Clones 2. Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets 3. Minority Report 4. Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban 5. AI Honorable Mentions: The Terminal, Catch Me If You Can, and The Patriot.
  23. I've read on this site that there's a JW interview on the Harry Potter & CoS DVD!!! I can't find it. Is it a hidden feature (easter egg)??? Does anyone know about it? Thanks in advance. P.S. This site rocks!!!
