  1. Maybe no-one. Maybe just track in loads of music for the other films? I mean, the Chamber Theme can be the theme for Horcuxes. It will be the first time the music has ever been heard in teh films, so no-one but us is likely to notice. - still pissed off at the hatchet-job that was the editting of COS.
  2. There are two good minutes of music in the Patriot: the first two of the first (and last) track. There are no good minutes in Stepmom.
  3. In the contect of the films and the scores, the Force theme; it really binds the whole galaxy/six-part score together. In the context of popular culture, a tie between the main title and the Impeirla March.
  4. Can he improvise a six-part fugue? Even if that story may not be true, looking at some of the things Bach has written shows that, like him or not, few composers come close. Marian - who should try and listen to The Art of Fugue again. Williams destroys Bach. Tim The Brandenburg Concertos are better than anything JW has, is or will write.
  5. Williams v any other primarily film composer (ie not those classical giants who wrote the odd film score)? Williams Williams v Bach? Bach Williams v Beethoven? Beethoven Williams v Mozart? Mozart etc
  6. I quite enjoyed Peter Pan, but it was no Hook. Similarly, I quite enjoy JNH, but he is no JW.
  7. Best track is Hymn to the Fallen, but that is just about all there is in SPR. CMIYC v The Terminal: The Terminal is just better.
  8. At the moment: AI - Williams ESB - Williams TPM - Williams Schindler's List - Williams Hook - Williams HP:PS - Williams HP:POA - Williams The Mission - Morricone Edward Scissorhands - Elfman Stargate - Arnold Changes often though.
  9. Far better: resurrect Goldsmith, get him and Yared to write the best score ever, get it rejected, the hire Horner to write a hatchet job of a score.
  10. Wow! What a trailer! I am excited already!
  11. There can only be one winner. The original. Elfman's second best work (after Edward Scissorhands).
  12. Compared to his "glory years" (1975-1983, say), 2000-2005 has been a disappointement. But then JW's glory years were the greatest scoring years in film score history. Compared to any other period in any other film composer's work (with the possible exception of JW's 1989-1993), JW's 2000-2005 is still in the "Great! I Love it!" category.
  13. Good Zimmer scores (all of them IMO): Lion King Crimson Tide The Thin Red Line Gladiator Hannibal That is all
  14. Zimmer has not done anything decent since Hannibal.
  15. Both had one decent film (The Matrix and ROTS) and two not-so-good. I still prefer the prequels, though.
  16. The Two Socks theme, the Journey to Fort Sedgewick motif and the Love theme are well worth the cost of the album.
  17. Williams commands six figure payouts per score, so I would say somewhere in the region of $50m is not unreasonable.
  18. Raiders, but like comparing Star Wars to ESB, both are outstanding scores, even there can be only one winner.
  19. I voted Hedwig's theme, just because it has confirmed that JW can still do what he does best: establish a remarkable piece of music that defines not only a whole film but a whole series of films.
  20. Theme as a piece of music: Hymn to the Fallen Theme as used in film: Victor's Theme Theme as it should have been used in the film, but wasn't despite amazing use on album: Monica's theme
  21. I have always had a liking for Luke and Leia; it is certainly one of JW's most accomplished and mature pieces. Shame it got a measily 5 mins of screnntime...
  22. Yes, and Batman. Both are superlative efforts. As are Stargate and Tomorrow Never Dies (the best of the newer Bonds), both by Arnold. At the moment, Stargate is my favourite non-JW score of all time (favourite = one that I am most tempted toplay over and over again). You should probably get some John Barry. If you do not want his Bond efforts, then try "Out of Africa" or - and this would be my pick as his best work to date - "Dances with Wolves". Can I also suggest "Finding Nemo" by Thomas Newman? This is my favourite of his weird bunch of scores; listenable (aka not American Beauty) and with some nice moments. And he is one of the pre-eminent film composers of today. Finally, "Peter Pan" by JNH. No, it is no Hook, but it is a damned fine score nonetheless.
