You're not a fan of Orson Welles' swan song, then?

I watched Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures. Enjoyed it. A bit too much of (nearly) everyone singing Kubrick's praises, but still interesting.
- Rob, who will watch the original Sleuth for the first time tonight
-
So did I. He's nearly always very good - though sadly the same can't be said for the films he's in. How do you go from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest to Critters 4 and Spontaneous Combustion?
-
Oooohhh.... I'll have to get to see that. I guess I'd even make a trip out to London if necessary.
I watched The Exorcist III yesterday. I enjoyed it. It suffers from the studio-imposed cuts and re-shoots (Jason Miller and Nicol Williamson weren't even in the original cut!), but in general it's so well done that it almost made me forget that it's a totally unnecessary sequel. I did notice one glaring mistake: Kinderman claims that Karras was his "best friend" - didn't they only meet once in the first movie?
-
How was the "final cut"? Doesn't look like it will be released to UK cinemas, I'll have to wait for the DVD.

-
"Desert Chase", probably, but "Slalom on Mt. Humol" is a very close second.

2. Raging Bull

4. Mean Streets
5. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore

Is this films or scores?
-
I thought they already cast Spock.
I've only heard Urban rumoured to play McCoy... which sounds equally unlikely, to be honest.
-
Jaws, and the James Bond theme.
-
What about downloading bootlegs?
-
Daddy-O does not fit into the "since 1977" catergory.
But no, I don't think it was.
-
Simon Pegg as Scotty?

-
A vocal version of the love theme from The Omen.
-
Never...ever listened to The Piper Dreams also.
Good for you, really.
Indeed. I've just about managed to get those awful lyrics out of my head, I kept thinking of them every single time I heard that (beautiful) theme in the score.

-
So you never (or rarely) just listen to a CD from beginning to end?

-
1. You Only Live Twice
2. Raise the Titanic
3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
4. Body Heat
5. King Kong
-
Wow! Very well done.

-
What is the most patriotic sounding piece of film music you have heard? (sorry non-Americans)
Why, is patriotism always about America?
Indeed...
I'll go for Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible.

-
R.I.P. Very sad news.

There are so many classic Moneypenny moments with her, my favourite is probably Goldfinger's.
-
1. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
2. Alien
3. Chinatown
4. Under Fire
5. The Blue Max
- Rob, who doesn't "get" the First Contact score
-
The Ladykillers (1955). Always a fun movie. Cleverly written, well acted and just really entertaining. No remake was required.
1408 (2007). I enjoyed it. Not even close to being great, but entertaining and never boring, despite most of the "twists" being quite predictable.
-
I forgot one, far worse than Patriot Games: the free promo of Dumb and Dumberer and Run Ronnie Run, that came with an FSM order.

-
The Day the Earth Stood Still by Bernard Herrmann

Of the ones I still own (that I haven't sold) I'll say Patriot Games. I had some others that are worse, but I got rid of them. I've tried selling this one, but no-one seems to want it...

What is the Last Film You Watched? - Part II

The Rock is the only Michael Bay film I actually enjoyed. And that's hardly a classic, just decent entertainment.
