Fantastic! I've always hoped this would be re-issued at some point, it's a magnificent score. And I completely disagree with KM's comment - quite a lot of my absolute favourite scores took many listens for me to fully "get". I like Nemesis' score very much (it's my favourite TNG score), and I quite enjoyed the film. Not a great film, but I can't quite see why it got quite as much criticism as it did. I certainly thought it was better than that snooze-fest Insurrection.

Who's scoring?
-
Try Henry V.

Indeed.

Directors he worked with more than once?

I disagree, in the film I find the score at worst dull and uninteresting, nothing really sticks out as bad scoring to me.

What is the Last Film You Watched? - Part II

I can't be 100% certain, but I seem to remember the Main Title sounds very similar to The Bravados (also A. Newman). EDIT: Just listened to them, they're not that similar. -

You only have one (or no) Herrmann albums? Shame on you! -

I watched The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes the other night. It suffers from the studio-imposed cuts (over an hour!!), yet it's still very entertaining and well-made. Robert Stephens as Holmes was very good. And the score... And I just got my Lonesome Dove DVD in the mail, will start watching it tonight. -

It would be better to see the original cut first, though the extended version is still a very good movie. -
Just heard the gunshot sound... Hopefully that won't be the final version?

R.I.P. There's a new print of The Seventh Seal playing the UK at the moment, I may go and see it (I've never seen the film).

It's unclear: LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Steven Spielberg's landmark "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is coming to DVD ($40) and Blu-ray Disc ($50) on November 13, four days shy of the 30th anniversary of its 1977 theatrical opening. The release marks the first time a Spielberg movie has been issued on high-definition disc, and it also is the first home video release of all three versions of the film: the 1977 original theatrical cut, the re-edited 1980 theatrical special edition and Spielberg's director's cut, released in 1998. That part suggests that it will be on DVD and Blu-Ray, but this part suggests otherwise: Through a process known as "seamless branching," the Blu-ray version contains all three films on a single disc. Though I'm guessing it will be on both.

I've heard it's going to have the Channel 4 documentary On the Edge of Blade Runner, which is apparently very good.

My Varese package also arrived today. Along with the Exorcist VHS box set, with CD. I might try and sync up some of the rejected score to the film... -
Hmm, I'm still on the fence about it. Maybe I'll get it next time I place an order, if it's still available.

When I was reading it, it did occur to me how many of his themes he could re-visit if he did score it. It would be wonderful if he could score it.
-
Sounds like it could be good, Doyle's written some great stuff (though I wasn't keen on his Potter score, Henry V and Frankenstein are wonderful). And it's a good cause, so I may well go.

I love the Legend score. It was my #1 favourite Goldsmith score for a while, though TMP has over-taken it.

The ultimate opinion about Attack of the Clones score

Agreed. -
Three years today, I just read at FSM. Today I'll listen to Star Trek - The Motion Picture, the Omen trilogy, The Last Run and The Sand Pebbles. Maybe some others too, if I have the time.
