What do you call "impressed"? I don't think I can be really impressed by a 30-second snippett of a track. However, what I've heard does sound fun. Although I already was pretty sure of it, after listening to the sound clips, I'm pretty sure that the full CD will impress me.

Recently he's scored Harry Potter, Star Wars, Memoirs, A.I., and now Indiana Jones!

A good bunch, no doubt (though we don't know about Indiana Jones yet, obviously), but I don't think that eight years can really compare to the eight years that gave us Black Sunday, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Fury, Jaws 2, Superman, Dracula, 1941, The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Heartbeeps, E.T., Monsignor, Return of the Jedi, The River and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Better scores, and more of them.

Don't get me wrong, I think Williams's current output is still very impressive, but his "peak" was in the '70s and '80s, IMO at least.

Koepp's done a few good scripts (I'm a big Carlito's Way fan), but most of his work is horrible IMO.

I won't. It's the films I'm interested in, and I already own them. The extras on these sets don't even look that interesting.

It's not exactly realistic, but for sheer entertainment value Errol Flynn vs. Basil Rathbone in Robin Hood has yet to be topped.

Bond vs. Grant (and also the incredibly tense build-up to the fight) in From Russia with Love is also a terrific sequence.

Harrison Ford's fights with Pat Roach in the first two Indiana Jones films are pretty good.

And the fight in Marion's bar earlier on in Raiders.

I think the oldest film I own is The Kid.

As for the main question: yes, definitely! The Third Man is one of my 2-3 absolute favourite films of all time, and lots of others (Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, Bride of Frankestein, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, King Kong) are among my favorites. I grew up watching a mixture of colour and b/w films, so I never really thought about it. It certainly never bothered me.

As for the Universal horrors, I haven't seen two many, but I absolutely love the first two Karloff Frankensteins. I remember liking The Invisible Man as well, but I haven't seen it for ages.

1 reel = 20 minutes, right? So 6 reels = 120 minutes and 7 reels = 140 minutes. The (rumoured) real movie length is 123 minutes, which is more than 120 minutes and would thus necessitate an additional reel, making for a total of 7 reels, which is what John Williams said, right?

Other option: John Williams recorded 140 minutes (=7 reels) of music, but that includes the concert suites.

A reel doesn't have to be 20 minutes. I think that's just the maximum. You often get reels shorter than that.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but has anyone made a Warehouse/End Credits track combining them as heard in the film? I love The Warehouse cue, but I wish it would run right into the End Credits.

Isn't the film version just the same, but shorter (with the start of the End Credits cut off)? Or is there some other difference?
