The Legacy of John Williams is proud to announce an exclusive online video event coming MAY 4, 2021 dedicated to one of the most iconic and beloved collaborations in the history of music.
 
'The Special Relationship: John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra' will explore the 40+ years collaboration between the legendary film music Maestro and one of the world’s leading symphonic institutions in a conversation featuring several former and current members of the LSO who performed under John Williams’ baton in many of his iconic scores recorded in London: CLIVE GILLINSON (former Cellist and subsequently LSO Managing Director), DAVID CRIPPS (former LSO Principal Horn), MAXINE KWOK (current LSO First Violinist), DAVID JACKSON (current LSO Percussionist). Joining this esteemed group of musicians is Planning Director SUE MALLET, a member of the LSO family since 1976, who worked closely with John Williams in his projects with the LSO since the early days.
 
The panelists will talk about their fond memories recording and performing with John Williams on such legendary films as the original Star Wars trilogy, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Star Wars prequel trilogy,Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but also on several other recording projects and live performances. The event is moderated and produced by The Legacy of John Williams’ editor/producer Maurizio Caschetto and film music journalist/concert producer Tim Burden.

Even the BBC is guilty of that hackish clickbait reporting lately, elevating randomers outspoken 280 word reacts as if it means something big enough that I should care or be influenced by it. If you're gonna be vocally outraged then you better at least have had a top ten hit under your belt, that's how it used to be in my day.

Here's hoping a CD edition is due later in the year as a Club title

“In the current health crisis, where movie theatres are shuttered or attendance is drastically limited because of the global pandemic, I still have hope bordering on certainty that when it’s safe, audiences will go back to the movies.
 
I’ve always devoted myself to our movie-going community — movie-going, as in leaving our homes to go to a theatre, and community, meaning a feeling of fellowship with others who have left their homes and are seated with us.
 
In a movie theatre, you watch movies with the significant others in your life, but also in the company of strangers. That’s the magic we experience when we go out to see a movie or a play or a concert or a comedy act.
 
We don’t know who all these people are sitting around us, but when the experience makes us laugh or cry or cheer or contemplate, and then when the lights come up and we leave our seats, the people with whom we head out into the real world don’t feel like complete strangers anymore.
 
We’ve become a community, alike in heart and spirit, or at any rate alike in having shared for a couple of hours a powerful experience.
 
That brief interval in a theatre doesn’t erase the many things that divide us: race or class or belief or gender or politics.
 
But our country and our world feel less divided, less fractured, after a congregation of strangers have laughed, cried, jumped out their seats together, all at the same time.
 
Art asks us to be aware of the particular and the universal, both at once. And that’s why, of all the things that have the potential to unite us, none is more powerful than the communal experience of the arts.”

It sounded a little synth to me, to be honest. Are we sure this sounds were actually produced by human voice, and not by a synthesizer?

Here's my attempt at isolating the choir that plays in The Intersection Scene using the two tracks from the new release. This sounds so creepy!
 

They couldn't remake The Matrix without Don Davis.

The strong green tint was only added later in the blu ray release. 
 
The recent 4K release is a better representation of how the film originally looked in the cinema. 

It'll probably end up being Giacchino, which would be a very very sad step down from Davis.

Funny you should mention that, as it's basically what the MMORPG did - she was the one whose actions hit the final 'reboot' button on the Matrix.
 
(Insert convoluted plot about The Oracle creating the Biological Interface Program, an effort to turn human DNA into machine code, and both Neo and Trinity being results of that)

For over 30 years of the 88 that you have been around, I have have been enthralled by your music. I have listened to it for countless hours. I have formed many friendships because of it, and it has impacted my life in ways that are simply undeniable.

I swear since The Force Awakens came out 90% of the time I find myself mindlessly humming or whistling it’s this damn theme. I actually don’t listen to it that often either, it’s good, but not spectacular. It just seems to naturally worm its way into the brain. 

I doubt JW will be involved. 
 
But I hear William Ross is interested...

A dark, twisted Indy score from Beltrami sounds appealing.

I don't know, it sounds super Star Warsy to me, especially at moments like 2:06, and the big statement starting around 2:50ish, culminating in that chord at 3:11.
 
 
The most romantic depiction of space I think Williams has done since Luke and Leia.
 
 
 
 

Just saw the movie and now listening to it!!! Love it so much. Cried like a baby in theatre😪😪😪

He doesn't have as many fart trombones in his scores as Hans Zimmer.

How much you wanna bet it's just going to be a compilation of those interviews from right before the movie came out?
