  1. The prequels all use the same recording of the main title.

My favorite performance is the one heard in Star Wars.

    Neil

Actually they were recorded again for both TPM and AOTC bot the TPM recording was used for ROTS...

I prefer the recording in The Phantom Menace, You can really feel the fullness of the orchestra and the lovely bass when the timpanis and snare drums come in.. Plus obviouslly the quality is much better than when it was originally recorded for Star Wars... The AOTC Main Title seemed a little "thin" almost to my ears...

  2. I thought this score was absolutely brilliant and so intelligent.. I especially love Psychic Truth and Finale.. He captured the whole "Whodunit" style of this end scene so perfectly... and I love the way he so perfectly captured the resolution to the mystery... it's just so right for the film. I loved every cue on the album.. Oh I also loved "Can you see?" really perfect and gorgeously chilling. I also love the motif that he has going on in this film with the Tremolo strings backed by the marimbas (listen to Everybody Runs!) -- it's very clever music. Also, I love the beautiful cues such as Sean's Theme and A New Beginning... Lovely <3

I just love the originality that this score has... Spyders is so unique and I really love the sort of atmospheric writing John Williams can do .. for example as heard in The Greenhouse Effect .... I was obsessed with this score for a LONG time LOL

  3. Emperor's theme i think, as portrated in the Emperor's death...

    Hi Mate.

    Yes, I agree. ;)

Princess Leia's theme is quite sad also.

    Cheers,

    Ian

I don't think Princess Leia's theme is sad at all, and It's not supposed to be. I think it's romantic and optimistic..

Anyway.. I think the Schindler's List theme is quite sad... And another tear jerker track for me is Stored Memories / Monica's Theme (AI)

  4. I have a question... Some of you guys seem to have actual scoring projects. Where can I get started? I'm really keen and very eager to score something, anything... I'll work for free even.. Ive looked for student movies and everything... Any Help?

Jack, You can post on my board to look for directors and opportunities. I just opened it today, and I'll be luring directors and film students there.

But I'll PM you a good opportunity to do music that gets exposure. If you're willing to write Hip-Hop and 70's rhythm section mixed with a little jazzy orchestral, you should take it up. Money's little, but still good exposure.

    Cool, I'll register there :D

And thanks for the PM ;)

  6. I have a good Idea.. If I remember correctly, the opening scene to the film Final Destination 2 (with the car crash) was completely unscored.. I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure because I remember thinking it should really have been scored because the scene seemed weird without music.. I think it's got great music potential.. What y'all think? :|

  7. Hey,

I've just made my first real piece using Opus 1.. It took a while to put together and the performance still isn't perfect (Still learning...) but I'm quite happy with the result... For any of you who are curious, it uses the following articulations:

Violins (Performance Legato, sus, trem, pfp, legato runs)

Viola (Performance Legato, Portamento, sus, trem, pfp)

    Cello (sus, pfp)

    Double Bass (sus, pfp)

    Flute (Performance Legato, pfp, stac)

    Clarinet (Performance Legato, pfp)

    Trumpet (Performance Legato, pfp)

    Tam-tam (Reiben scrape)

Timpani (normal hit, trem, trem cresc)

    Horns (sus, pfp, cresc)

    Bass Drum

    Harp

You'll notice the John Williams quote near the end
