  1. A Whirl Through Academe.

I can't stand The Jungle Chase as it is presented on the soundtrack, it's hacked up so much, and having seen the film only makes it worse - knowing how much brilliant music was left out.

It starts well for the first minute (despite the fact that we've already missed "Part 1" of the Jungle Chase from the soundtrack). That edit at 1:56 makes me cringe every time I hear it - even the volume levelling is badly matched. The cue flows so much better in the film... And as for the Mutt stuff in the track, well, if I want to hear that I'll just listen to The Adventures of Mutt.

  2. I'm giving it a first listen and there are some nice parts ---- one thing I need to post about though, and wonder if others agree:

1:56 into Jungle Chase ---- is this not the most horrible editing that you've heard since the Phantom Menace Ultimate Soundtrack??? It hurts my ears every time I hear it. Did anyone else get jarred out of their listening experience when they reached this point? Whoever edited that part was smoking something heavy.....

I'm glad somebody mentioned that. The levels don't even match comfortably.. Suddenly the track just becomes massively loud.

I'm guessing that The Jungle Chase, as it is presented on the Soundtrack, is pretty much a hacked up version of the cue, barely representing what Williams wrote for the actual film. Although I do love the introduction and the first minute or so, but it looses momentum pretty soon afterwards.

  3. Now for a sober reaction... I think this score is absolutely stunning! It's a beautifully crafted masterpiece. The interwoven themes and their development throughout the score is absolutely genius.. Irina's theme is beautiful. It's amazing how Williams is able to capture the nature of a character so well with a single piece of music. He manages to capture the feeling that Irina is, although a villain, a beautiful and vulnerable woman.. It's eerie, yet romantic and vulnerable, sweet.

I love how Williams is able to merge the fun scherzo-esque action cues, with more dangerous sounding action music so seamlesly. And the whole finale cues sound so exciting and compelling and mysterious. I really can't wait to see the film.

Regardless of whether there's a couple of instances of "Williams ripping Williams", there's still plenty of development within old references. Heck, he even manipulates the Raiders march in a few places (the fourth note [being the root note of the key] moves to the octave below rather than moving up to the higher octave).. And I always think that Williams ripping Williams is still pretty originally done. It's never a note for note rip, at least..

So much to say, I need more listens!

  4. Erm.. Firstly I live in the UK.. Secondly, am I not allowed to express my campness as freely as possible without being condemned and supresed into a state of vegetable-ness..

Jebus I'm just a fan of Williams who appreciates his sheer genius.. This score is amazing... Utterly mind blowing and the first listening is killing me.. Really.. JEBUS!
