I know what my hope is… this film was shot before Ke Huy Quan returned to acting after decades away from it. Maybe this reunion at D23 led to some last minute conversations to take advantage of the extra buffer time before this film’s release, and give a very powerful onscreen relationship (easily the best part of the generally-problematic ToD) some lovely closure of some kind…
 
Just a hope, but I can dream. Obviously it’s far too late for him to be integrated into the movie. “Another ending” seems like it might just fit.
 


I’m surprised more people’s minds aren’t going to this hopeful possibility, but then I guess the men’s rights “they shall not replace us” trolls really do have their panties in a bunch about Phoebe Waller Bridge being in this, and they’re the loudest voices on the internet. 🙄

Reviving this thread as an FYI for people who haven't listened to Jane Eyre. I've just seen that the "original soundtrack" is available on Spotify now. Don't know how long its been there but I haven't seen it before so I'm guessing its a recent enough addition.
"Original" in quotes as I'm not familiar with the publication history of the album. Spotify says 1982 and "JAY Productions Ltd.", I'm sure someone more knowledgable than I will know all about it. 
 

I will just say we collaborated to ensure the release could be as complete and comprehensive as possible and leave it at that.

A popular title sold out, and is now back in print for anyone who missed out to get a chance to own.
 
They could have released the same identical discs as before, but instead Mike and I spent a bunch of time together to make this as comprehensive as possible.  Would you have preferred these film versions sat unreleased forever instead?

During the Kennedy Center pre-concert talk, Williams just revealed that Indy 5 will begin recording this coming Tuesday morning, at 10 AM to be precise.

I also strongly recommend subbing back in the original alternates, tracks 29-31, for tracks 18-20. Feels much more of a piece with the rest of the score and is some really good stuff.
   
 
 

It would have been logical to incorporate this difficulty into the plot-arc-character or something.

I very strongly feel that Ludwig's music in general does not sound like cookie cutter RCP.  Using synthetic sounds does not automatically = RCP.  He has his own voice and approach that sounds nothing like Balfe & co.

LOL did Williams just announce Ford's retirement for him?

I mean without this grand finale development, the last appearance of Ilia's Theme (one of the greatest things Goldsmith ever wrote) is ... in "Games"? I realize it's disguised here and there, and connects to the V'Ger material after Ilia becomes the probe. But the theme in recognizable form just...peters out. And that's not the kind of thing Goldsmith would usually do with such great thematic material; he liked developing his thematic material and giving it a journey! It's part of why he's my #1 favorite composer! And while the treatment of Ilia's Theme in TMP was always a disappointment to me even though I loved the score, it felt amazing to discover last year that his original instinct and approach to the score WAS to have a grand culmination of Ilia's Theme at the climax of the film! It felt strangely vindicating.
 
By the way, there's some surprisingly good stuff on Disc 3 (Voyager) of this set too! While not on the level of The Orville or anything, the composers on Voyager were really allowed to stretch their musical talents more than on the latter half of TNG or first half of DS9.

I agree that while Kraemer's mockups are well done, it's super frustrating it was not recorded at the original orchestral sessions. I honestly like this better than the version of The Meld which was used in the film! It actually allows Ilia's theme to reach a destination and have a true journey over the course of the score...which befits such a great theme and makes up for the generally disappointing treatment of the character herself in the film.
 
 
It works PERFECTLY in context; I get that they changed it because they wanted to focus to be more on V'Ger, but I still would have preferred this personally.

That's really not the issue. But when in the 4th episode Obi-Wan talks to a "Rebel" and says "You must help me." and the rebel says "No." and Obi-Wan replies "You have to. You don't know what the empire is capable of." and then this rebel guy starts telling his sad boring story and you just think, hang on, you're just wasting time, you are going to help him anyway. That's an issue.

I'd say it's the writers who are struggling.

This was pure filler, another 10-minute setpiece blown up to a full episode with dumbness just like ep2. Same thing happens in it too.
 
What surprised me most was I liked the Leia/Rea stuff, they were both better than before and had good moments. Too bad it was all pointless dumb forced tension to pad the episode out - why the hell would Leia know where the other hideouts are? Reva was in that room too, she probably gathered mord information in 2 minutes than Leia in the, what, 5 minutes she spent there being more interested in the droid.
 
Oh and 5 minutes in it already seemed like even Ewan couldn't keep up the pretense by then.

This episode only proves that Vader not handling the fire in the previous one makes no sense. A week ago, one could speculate Vader maybe changed his mind, but now he's full on rage, because guess what, Kenobi escaped... again.
And we're losing those prescious minutes to another needless Leia capture-rescue story, considering otherwise Reva wouldn't have the means to track Kenobi back to Jabiim.
More so, the show feels less like a Kenobi story, in the sense we get deeper into the character. Just action for the sake of action, switching from planet to planet to planet.

I think the in only scene I've enoyed so far was the one with Obi-Wan and the Jawa in the cave. I'd much rather have a show centered around Obi-Wan living a somewhat clandestine existence in Tatooine than another galactic adventure with winks and nods to movies and meeting. legacy characters.
 
It helps that my favorite sequence in ANH is also the journey of droids till they meet Luke

And if the excuse will be that otherwise you can't give the character the emotional arc you want - first off, so far we're not seeing a well done arc, secondly, why not do something else with someone else sometime else then?

Some people genuinely don’t know how incredibly beneficial cohesiveness and consistency can be for storytelling, especially in these side stories that brush extremely closely to the main pillars of the franchise story
 
Genuinely, when is the last time you heard someone say ‘man I just don’t like how this fits with what was previously established, it’s too consistent’

I don't understand this continuity and canon talk. Why even do stories about characters in universes and timelines we know if you're just going to actively contradict preestablished things that happened or will happen, things we and they know, ways they did or will act?
