  1. From what I have seen. 1) Empire Strikes Back (the most interesting, the best use of music) 2) Return of the Jedi (second best) 3) The Phantom Menace (bad, but at least funny, although childish) 4) A New Hope (the worst of all, but not on the last place out of respect and because it started it all) 5) Attack of the Clones (very bad and humorless, over the top music)
  2. If Kingdom of Heaven was scored by John Williams, all of you fan boys would run to see it. I just can't understand how someone chooses to watch a film based on composer. In this case, the choice is very limited (and lacking quality). Some of the best movies out there have very little, if any music in it.
  3. I saw the movie and I waited trough the whole end credits, but I couldn't hear woman moaning. I really don't understand what are you reffering to. Are you talking about that wonderful song in arabic? I will tell you that it is not a woman moaning, but singing about God. The refrain of the song contains the most significant expression of Koran. La illahe ilallah, which means "There is no other lord worth worshiping but God". It's relevance in Islam is the same as oath to three gods in Christianity. The song is beautiful and touching, and it is far from moaning. Of course, it is no John Williams or James Horner, but thanks one God for that. I wouldn't like to hear another kitchy Groban love song in a relation with a movie ever again. Based on his excelent and very influental work on Gladiator (and many other movies), Zimmer would be a better choice for scoring Kingdom of Heaven, but who cares, after all?
  4. Anybody ever listened to "The Epic Film Music of Maurice Jarre" album? It is by far the best music Jarre ever composed? It containes soundracks from epic movies "The Message" and "Lion of the Desert". It is in style of "Lawrence of Arabia", but more diverse and much more interesting. By the way, I vote for Lawrence of Arabia.
  5. 2001 has a bad score? That is the strangest thing I've ever heard. One of the things this film is studied by film students is because of it's perfect use of music. This poll is even stranger because it compares two uncomparable things. It is like comparing Picasso's Guernica with a Marvel comic. You can love them both, but to compare the two is a bit too much. CEOTK can't come out of the comparison anything more than trivial looser, both by it's cinematic and "musical" value. Not to say that it is a bad movie, but come on, guys. You don't have to bash everything else in order to make something you like look good. It makes life hard. And what could be the next. To compare Johan Sebastian Bach and JW? You can like them both, as I do. But to compare them? LOL
