I found this to be cute: From "The Hollywood Bowl Cookbook" MAESTRO JOHN WILLIAMS' SALAD 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 tablespoons red wine vinager 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 1 tablespoon honey 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 cup chopped barbequed chicken breast (below) 1 cup deveined peeled steamed shrimp 6 ounces garden rotini, cooked, drained 2 cups cherry tomatoes 1/2 cup cooked green peas 1/2 cup thinly sliced celery lettuce leaves Whisk the olive oil, vinager, Dijon mustard, honey, salt and pepper in a bowl until blended. Chill, covered, in a refrigerator. Combine the chicken, shrimp, pasta, cherry tomatoes, peas, carrots and celery in a salad bowl and mix well. Add vinaigrette and toss to coat. Spoon the salad onto a lettuce-lined serving platter. Barbequed Chicken 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts juice of 1/2 lime 1 teaspoon garlic 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper Arrange the chicken in a dish. Whisk the lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl. Drizzle over the chicken, turning to coat. Marinate, covered, in a refrigerator for 4 to 5 hours. Grill the chicken over hot coals until cooked through, turning ocassionally. Cool slightly and cut into bite-size pieces. Serves two This salad will make a great accompaniment to Williams' music on September 1 and 2 when the composer conducts "John Williams and the Music of the Movies"

Tanglewood Film Night 2006 program announced!
Kramer replied to Foxfan's topic in General Discussion
Williams added more cymbal crashes to the concert version, so that is the composer's definitive version. Also, the Duel of the Fates from the Star Wars Grand Suite is a shortened 2 minute version. -

CBS News composer rips off JW and Meet The Press

Not to mention that the theme from MEET THE PRESS sounds very much like the Catalunian Christmas classic "Fum, fum, fum" -
John Mauceri recently recorded Elfman's piece and others and will perform them later this year at the Hollywood Bowl for his final concert as conductor of the Bowl Orchestra

Your favorite recording of the Superman March
Kramer replied to BurgaFlippinMan's topic in General Discussion
The Boston Pops recording is the very best of them all -
The question should be "in which pieces you do not hear the boom-tzzzz"
-
Just because it's in 3/4 times or equivalents doesn't mean it's a waltz: i.e. Call of the Champions, Ride of the Valkyries
-
Actually, it's an amphitheater much like the Waldbhune in Berlin.

No, because Shore is conducting what seems to be a string chamber orchestra, whereas the soundtrack music at that point is all brass! It's one of those moments where the sound and image just don't match. the pit orchestra does have brass and percussion, you can see some cymbals in that picture they posted here
