  1. Judgment Night Russkies Back to the Future In Search of Peace Transylvania 6-5000/Korgoth of Barbaria Innerspace The Fugitive Inglourious Basterds Sky Bandits Tango & Cash Terror Tract The Red Canvas Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer Up Thank you MovieMusic for the $1 shipping (except for Sky Bandits which I got from Amazon Marketplace, UP which was an MP3 download from Amazon and Inglourious Basterds which I got from Target bundled with the movie)!
  2. The last Chicago stop of the Nine Inch Nails "Wave Goodbye" tour. Amazing experience (although there were some songs they should have played). In any case, being able to hear "Heresy", "Reptile" and "I'm Afraid of Americans" was the tops.
  3. On Friday I got a chance to check out Peaches (she has a filthy mouth...and I loved it)! Then on Saturday, after waiting nearly three hours for these two DJs to finish their sets (boring after about the first hour), I finally got to see The Prodigy and they kicked my @$$! It was freakin' awesome!
  4. it may have occurred to most of you, but no one has outwardly stated it yet. so, in an effort to claim my stake as leader of the obvious, i will now say some things. i believe miles was right when he said that jack detonating the bomb is what caused "the incident". of course, if an H-bomb goes off in your vicinity, you'd probably be dead (so technically all the losties should be dead). but, just as desmond turning the key in 2004 was the fail safe for the swan station, the h-bomb in 1977 is the fail safe for the pocket of energy that was being drilled into. in other words, radzinsky and crew realized that if the energy ever became unstable, they could detonate an h-bomb underground to control it, and that became the fail safe that desmond activated in 2004. so that means that the losties are still alive (except for Juliet). the question is what happens to them? do they get transported to 2007? do they start having "flashes before their eyes" like desmond? perhaps they get flashes of what is happening in the present (Ben being manipulated by Fake Locke, Jacob dying, etc.)? at this point it's almost impossible to tell what's going to happen in season six. DARLTON!!!!!
  5. Simian Mobile Disco at Metro. They rocked the place! It was awesome (as the title of the thread implies).
  6. I'd like to have that on there, too, but it's most definitely not the first time Ben's theme wasn't sinister. Here's a brief history of the theme, actually, since it's one of my favorites from the entire show. What we currently call Ben's theme was first heard in the season 2 episode "Three Minutes" as Michael prepares to run off to find Walt. That's the last episode of season 2 before the finale. In those last few hours of the season, the theme mostly represents Michael's betrayal; the Others were given a bouncy theme of their own in the same episode. That one always reminds me of sinister hillbillies, which is basically what the Others seemed to be at that point. When season 3 rolled around, Giacchino threw out that theme - he recorded a final statement of it for the big reveal of the Barracks in "A Tale of Two Cities," as heard at the end of the track "In with a Kaboom!", but this was replaced by tracked music in the show. So yeah, the first Others' theme didn't survive past the second season. The theme for Michael's betrayal stepped in as a new and more sinister theme for the Others, and it functioned exclusively that way throughout most of season 3. Then there was another shakeup. Ben got his outstanding centric episode, "The Man Behind the Curtain," which permenently associated the theme especially with him and introduced a far gentler variation on it. That variation is basically what you're talking about, although for the donkey wheel scene, Giacchino gave it a little more of a heroic urgency. thanks for the info data! i was completely unaware of the variation in "Curtain". i'm gonna have to go check that out. also, i'm lovin the "Musical themes" page on lostpedia which, as you stated earlier, you had a part in.
  7. i got chills listening to some of those clips. hooray goosebumps! i really do hope they have the bit of score that plays when ben turns the wheel. i'm not entirely sure but i believe that is the first time we hear Ben's theme in a more heroic statement (as opposed to the sinister tones we are used to).
  8. Origin of Symmetry by Muse - was only really familiar with their Absolution album (which is amazing by the way) but then gave this one a listen and was blown away (even if they have a couple of songs that sound like RATM ripoffs) Music for a Darkened Theatre, Vol. 1 - haven't heard it yet but it's got a lot of nice selections so I figured what the heck Stargate (Deluxe Edition) - i had the regular edition but then this one came out and i figured i'd get it for the sake of getting it. haven't heard what's new on this one but i'm sure it's all good. still on the fence about getting mask of the phantasm. i'm very curious to see what intrada is dishing out this monday.
  9. recently bought: Invaders Must Die (didn't like the first two singles but when you actually listen to the entire album and get a feel for it you see how awesome it is) Watchmen soundtrack (haven't listened to it yet but from what i heard in the movie there were some good choices made) got last week and listened to: Looney Tunes (as others have said, Car Trouble and The Bad Guys are standout tracks) Timeline rejected score (heard bits and pieces on YouTube but haven't had a proper listen yet) Star Trek: Nemesis (starts off good then kinda takes a bit of a dip in the middle and picks up near the end. overall pretty good.) just received but haven't listened to: The Boys From Brazil Honey, I Shrunk the Kids really want to get: A View to a Kill
  10. any good? i've listened to bits and pieces and i get the impression that its going to sound like Proof of Life or The Kingdom.
  11. Uhhh I hate to break it to you but, Concord didn't do the initial releases of the original scores. The sound quality on those are inferior to the originals (maybe except DCC Raiders). It's worth to get the Concord box set even if you all ready own KOTCS. heh, that part was supposed to be a joke. sorry if it wasn't clear...or funny for that matter.
  12. ::sniff:: OMG you guys are so mean to me...AS IF! ::sniff:: seriously though, if concord didn't put the extra music on the individual releases then they obviously didn't want me to have it. no but seriously, i'll admit i screwed up. i remember reading about the extra cues when the indy box set was first announced. but when i saw that they were individually releasing them all my common sense and logic went out the window and i ordered them quick fast and in a hurry. i've got them now and i still thoroughly enjoy them (even with its problems). one day i'll get those extra cues. one day...
  13. Um, did you buy these separately or as part of the five disc Indiana Jones box set? separately. i already had KOTCS and while it would have been nice to get all the nifty extras, i opted to get just the three scores instead.
  14. i remember back in November of 2004 when John Williams was in Chicago conducting the CSO, he was commenting on Jerry's death. i can't remember exactly what he said, but it was respectful and admirable, talking about how Jerry always had the ability to find the emotion of a scene or convey the emotion of a scene (don't quote me on that). then they performed the Star Trek theme. i can't even begin to describe how awesome that was.
  15. The album with the excellent Danny Elfman Jazz pieces? heh...sorry. i guess i should have been more specific. it's actually the album Chicago (or Chicago II, depending on who you are) by the band Chicago.
  16. recently got: Chicago (or Chicago II, depending on who you are) Goodfellas soundtrack Fresh Cream just ordered: The Boys From Brazil Honey, I Shrunk the Kids still waiting for (should come tomorrow, hopefully): Looney Tunes: Back in Action Star Trek: Nemesis Timeline (rejected score) Raiders of the Lost Ark Temple of Doom The Last Crusade
  17. none of your business actually, its good for the following couple of reasons: 1. as a resource for the discovery of scores and score related information that i may otherwise be unaware of (this is the primary reason) 2. to see what others are listening to (i know, you are probably wondering "who cares what others are listening to", but its the curiosity in me that drives me to snoop) hope that answers your question! EDIT: I received Wind and the Lion and Alien yesterday. I've listened to the original albums before but this will be my first time listening to the complete score. I can't wait!
  18. just finished reading all 76 pages of this thread...phew...i know i'm not a regular poster (see post count) but i'm really digging this thread and wanted to add my input. here's my recently purchased (this is within the past month and half): 24: Seasons 4 and 5 Mulan Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vol. 1 The Matrix Deluxe Edition Alien Nation The Omen Trilogy Forrest Gump Moonraker Alien (haven't received yet) The Wind and the Lion (also haven't received yet) Star Trek 5 almost blind bought Death on the Nile but since I had never heard it i put it back. anybody got any feedback regarding this score? i'm still on the fence regarding The Boys from Brazil. i remember seeing this movie in high school and thinking that the score was interesting but completely out of place for the movie. i really can't recall much of it anymore which is why i'm still debating. finally, i noticed that varese has a box set called "Jerry Goldsmith: His Final Recordings" which includes Star Trek: Nemesis, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and his unused Timeline score. its limited to 2500 but yet they're selling it on Amazon like its a regular release. has anybody bought this set? does each CD come in its original CD case? also, does each one come wrapped in its own plastic or do they come like The Omen Trilogy box set where the box is wrapped but the CDs themselves are not?
  19. ROTFL quite possibly one of the funniest things i've ever heard.
  20. to Morlock: awesome Amy reference (at least, I hope that's what you were referencing) to JMan: when will Hanks do another weird comedy with the awesome Corey Feldman? please...tell me when ::sniff::
  21. i need to find that tree so i can live forever and watch it...FOREVER
  22. holy wierdness! when i went to that david arnold website and clicked on independence day main theme, the first thing i thought was "am I listening to Hook" but then the more familiar part of the theme kicked in and it all made sense.
  23. What is it about a Media Ventures (a.k.a Clone Control) "score" that no matter how much you lower the volume, it just keeps getting progressively louder? Anyways, I was thinking about some of their scores (don't ask why) and I remembered that POTC was basically a "greatest hits". I know this has been talked about at great length, but let's give it another round, just for fun. What other Media Ventures scores are heard in POTC? Track by track, specifically. Fog Bound - Pearl Harbor The Medallion Calls - The Rock (IIRC) Swords Crossed - Black Hawk Down That's all I can remember off the top of my head without having to listen to the score again.
  24. Ok, so I was listening to the John Williams Greatest Hits 1969-1999 cd (and yes, I know that most if not all are re-recordings). The last track on the first disc, the Close Encounters suite, contained a little snippet of music that sounded very familiar. At around 4:25 -4:45, you can hear a slow version of "When You Wish Upon A Star." This seemed very peculiar to me. So, before I ask the questions, a few points of clarification. 1. I have only seen CE3K once, and I wasn't really paying too much attention to it. 2. I have never actually listened to the CE3K score in its entirety. 3. I did do a search in the message boards, and there was one topic that briefly talked about this. Here is the link. It was mentioned in such a way that it was common knowledge. Maybe it is, I don't know. Anyways, here are my questions: Why is it in there? Was this snippet inserted intetionally? In other words, is there something that happens in the movie that necessitates the usage of it? Is it a prevalent piece of music? Does it get played more than once in the movie? Thanks.
