  1. Stravinsky's "Fireworks", of course :-)
  2. The first 8 bars of the Imperial March (in fact, THE imperial March) also features all 12 notes of chromatic scale, by the way
  3. Panic Room is quite interesting, IMHO. The 20th anniversary edition of E.T. is very nice because you can hear the audience cheering and acclaiming everytime a new name appears on screen during the opening credits. It's funny to notice JW gets more applause than Henry Thomas or else Anyway, I love the idea to chose the audiotrack with the live performance of the score. BTW, it shows again, that Spielberg actually cares for Williams Scores. I mean, come on guys - how many soundtracks do you know, that could be performed live in the cinema?! There's so much (re-)editing ... It's terrible to hear one track 3 or 4 times during the movie. (like in GoF). Not to mention Aliens ... Meanwhile, I hate movies with opening credits just appearing while the actual film has already started. Like the first minutes wouldn't be important enough ... sometimes it's really annoying. sorry for the bad english guys ... Henry, who discovered recently the joy of deezer.com
  4. at last!!! after 9 years of waiting I've got the score of godzilla I'll never forget how disappointed I was when I played the first track of the `98 album and I heard bowie's "hero", realising what this album really was. It was my 12th birthday and my second soundtrack cd . . . but now . . . well, it's pretty cool!and btw, whose cd-case did NOT break?
  5. IMHO there are some similiarities between "Iskenderun" and "Letter Bombs" from Munich, aren't there?
  6. . . . a recollection of John Williams action / suspense cues!! I'm just listening to Davis Score the first time for a while. You can hear John Williams everywhere! Yeah, Davis took a look on the sketches of JP and TLW but he used hundreds of other cues from other Williams scores. And than this terrible orchestra! Even MediaVentures sounds better, sometimes . . . Maybe old news, but I just . . . arghhhh!!!!! Henry who always wondered, how Davis could write such orchestral music . . .
  7. I think I heard a motif from Elfman's RED DRAGON . . . Well IMHO it was a weak score. btw the film itself was horrible! Henry
  8. I've often heard about the Dies Irae Motif - but who composed it? Where is it from? Henry
  9. Maybe this came up before, but did you notice that the main motif from "Anakin's Betrayal" (Lament) ressembles the motif of the first two minutes of "Stored Memories" from A.I.??
  10. I have often thought about this question. And what to play at my wedding? Well, there is one wonderful piece of filmmusic that IMHO would fit for both of them: I would chose Hans Zimmers String piece "To Every Captive Soul" from Hannibal. Henry, who hates Zimmers synthesizer-music 8O
  11. well, good luck then when trying to convince your parents! would be great if even jwfan-members joined the concert
  12. my friend's parents will record the concert. Maybe they can upload it . .. I've totally no idea how this works, I'm not into this whole technique But why record . . . It's free entry. So, what about a nice autumn-trip to Berlin?! LOL
  13. Mr. DNA - maestro's mickey-mousing-like music for the cartoon shown in jurassic park. I have the MIDI of this wonderful piece a created a version for piano and clarinet.
  14. I play the piano and a friend of mine plays the clarinet (he' a very talented guy). In november we'll give a small concert in our local music school. The program will feature Klezmer-music (Jewish Folk Music) and filmmusic, of course. All titles will be performed on clarinet and piano. My friend didn't know John Williams until I told him about. He's now very fascinated about the maestro's music. And I didn't know about Klezmer until my friend told me about We were surprised to find a lot of connections between these two styles. Here's the program: 4 pieces from Beyond the silence (german movie "Jenseits der Stille", very Klezmer-like music by Niki Reiser) two Klezmer pieces Theme From Schindler's List Jewish Town Ballade For A Klezmer (written by Giora Feidman - an excellent clarinet player, known for his klezmer performances. He also played the solo in Schindler's List) Avner's Theme (A Prayer For Peace) - Piano Solo another two klezmer pieces The Tale Of Viktor Navorski Jazz Autographs - Piano Solo Mr. DNA 4 pieces from Harry Potter Family Portrait Dobby Lord Voldemort - I'll play the double bass, accompanied by my friend who can also play the piano Hedwig's Theme - Piano Duet If I were a rich man (from Fiddler) Encore will be main theme from the simpsons So, what do you think about this concert?
  15. Although I immediately thought of loud and fast tracks - what's about "Remebering Petticoat Lane"?? could be a realy cute love-waltz
