It's why I say that even if you think these new scores pale in comparison to previous glories, you must admit it's astounding he's writing music this vibrant and compelling at his age.  There is very little precedent for it.  For most, even if they had physical health their minds would simply not be up to the task.

You're plastering a narrative onto this that isn't true. Most creative endeavors don't wane with age unless there is some underlying pathology. Old people only get better.

Productivity declines with age, but quality of output typically doesn't, if anything it improves.

Didn't the same thing happen with one of the Hobbit scores and it was quickly taken down? Desolation of Smaug, I think...

I'm sorry, did Bilbo Baggins wield a damn light saber?

This is the worst introduction to a Star Wars score EVER. Disney fucked up.

Other than the chase sequence (I'm assuming), are there any particular moments that don't work for you?

It’s been a while since I’ve watched the film, the chase sequence does stand out. In general it’s too ornamented a score and in various scenes brings attention to itself. Williams gets better at austere suspense music later on with Munich.

A Prussian Requiem isn't just your average requiem though. It transcends the boundaries of traditional operatic and orchestral styles while being coherent and relevant to today's listener by "shaking up" what we've come to expect from the typical grave, remorseful missa pro defunctis via a few modern touches and Powell's delightful style. Essentially, Powell hits every possible emotion in one grand and utterly beautiful in memoriam.

    It's fine.
