gkgyver got a reaction from Incanus in Howard Shore's The Desolation Of Smaug (Hobbit Part 2)
Who needs samples? Bring me the precious ... gkgyver will have his prize, they will deliver it!
Oh and yes, who wouldn't want original title music?
IMO the opening scene of Two Towers is one of THE textbook examples of why film music is so important for the film's connection with the audience. It conveys everything what the film is like, and it tells you "this is going to be worthwhile".

Can we expect you to conduct it yourself on video?
So, this guy did the whole song on one day? Christ, didn't Torrini record several versions of Gollum's Song before it was decided on a version? Shore wrote Use Well The Days, and then did a radically different approach with Into The West, and even considered different guitars.
And now these things are recorded on one day.
I can't believe the sunken standards on this production.

I thought the short shot of Smaug opening his eye looked really good!
I don't like how they put Pippin's line "you are part of this world" into Tauriel's mouth. And Balin's line "it never ceases to amaze me, the courage of hobbits" could validate the track list (track 7, disc 2).

What a shame the music doesn't let them really shine.

If you weren't a fan of his before this, it most likely doesn't win you over now.

Just listening to the song.
I may be a snobby film music fan, a Rings fanboy, Shore fanboy on top of that, and spoiled by the songs Shore wrote for Rings films. But trying to put all of this aside, I have to say, boy Jesus is this song awful for Middle-Earth. When I imagine this over the credits, my GOD how far have these Tolkien songs come. At least Finn's song had a good thematic hook, while this Sheeran thing, guitars and lyrics, sounds like something out of Brokeback Mountain.
Btw, track list now on amazon as well (http://www.amazon.com/Hobbit-Desolation-Original-Picture-Soundtrack/dp/B00FFT1BJ0/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1383649804&sr=1-1&keywords=hobbit)

Thursday night, I felt compelled to conduct the first two discs of Two Towers ... again.
Amazing how short two hours can feel with a stick in your hand.
Eh ,,, wait

A million bucks for a few minutes of music .... well, there goes my plan of recording the unreleased cues myself

The sleeves pointing upwards in a lot more practical, especially the attached booklet in the middle. With the Decca version, when you want to grab a disc, and tilt the case sideways in order to let the disc slide out, the whole booklet is falliing out of its sleeve. So you have to either hold it or keep the case horizontal, and hyperextend the sleeves.
It's .... exhausting.

Why not score it with "Concerning Hobbits" because the outcome of the fight will, you know, concern a hobbit.

It was originally scored with Gandalf The White (in Nature), meaning Gandalf acts as an agent of nature to aid Rohan. It's not too big of a jump to assume it was eventually decided Nature has a more direct hand in it, with the Huorns coming to Helms Deep and all, so Nature Reclamation was then used.
The use in RotK is then just consequential. I don't think it's used twice for Rohan in RotK just because PJ felt like it. The fact that no alternates ever showed up for these points towards intention by the composer.

The Witch King was called that in LotR, and we got no stupid explanation why he is called that, with him dancing around a brooding fire.

If Azog really is put on Thorin's trail to get a Dwarven ring from him, the Nazgul statement would be quite fitting actually. But ... I lack the faith.

The information that the theme from the trailer was not Shore's was a bad omen.
We should have seen it coming.

Maybe because WB is planning a Super-Special-Limited Enchillada, with all six Middle-Earth Complete Recordings, the two Doug Adams books about LotR and The Hobbit, all six OSTs, and a hair from Conrad Pope enclosed in a crystal.
The redesigned LotR CR will have the credit "Approved by Conrad Pope".

As Long as the SE is 2 discs of music, I don't really care.

The beginning of TEotW is IMO the best theme on the album.
