Does anyone know if the original soundtrack to The Ten Commandments has ever been released on CD? I have a re-recording of some of the score that Bernstein did in the (I think) 1980's or 1990's but I was wondering if an original recording has ever been released.

A fire broke out this morning at Universal Studios and now NBC news is reporting that the fire has spread to at least one of the film vaults there. Here's hoping that's not true.

He was the director of movies like Out of Africa, Tootsie, Three Days of the Condor, the remake of Sabrina (which Williams scored) as well as an actor who starred in several films, most recently as the head of the law firm in Michael Clayton. The Last Crusade boot can be heard on Youtube in its entirety. As has been mentioned, it has horrible sound quality.

I wish to God that he'd forget that "Ludlow's Demise" melody that's creeped into just about every action cue he's written since 1997.

I always took the statement in the end to sort of represent the fact that Henry and Indy had become grail knights themselves in finding and protecting the grail. Then again, it's late and I can probably convince myself that there's a really good reason why Williams quoted Yoda's Theme so often during the Cloud City scenes! That's interesting. I guess I never realized how little the Knight's theme is used throughout the entire score until you mentioned it. I guess it seemed like a larger part of the score to me than it actually is because it's given an expanded treatment in the end credits.

I'm very confused. Are we talking about the father theme (Keeping Up with the Joneses), the Grail theme (The Penitent Man Will Pass), or the Knight theme (The End Credits) that's being quoted in KOTCS?

Eric, Is the scene with the as awful/distracting/unnecessary as some of the early reviews suggest?

I found it kind of strange and boring. Strange in that it's Lester Holt who hosts (or at least used to host) the NBC Nightly News on weekends and when Brian Williams was on vacation. I mean if you're making a faux documentary about something crazy, you wouldn't send a reputable newsman, right? Boring in that there was a program on the History Channel tonight that seemed a bit more informative and better paced. Plus the History Channel program seemed to have Lucasfilm's blessing since it used the Lucasfilm logo at the end and featured music from the Indy trilogy throughout.

I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but the Indy mania this week brought back a question that's been bothering me. What is the music in the second part of "No Ticket" on The Last Crusade OST (the part that's not in the film)? Does anyone know what it was meant to underscore? Thanks.

From the Chicago Tribune review: Kaminski has done some amazing work, but this is one thing that has always bugged me. It always seems like an alien mothership is sitting 5 feet away from the window in a Kaminski picture. Even parts of Saving Private Ryan look as if they were filmed on the sun. "The Jungle Chase" seems to have almost an exact lift from Waxman's Bride of Franksenstein in that little high-pitched clarinet (is it?) solo. Wonder if it was accidental or intentional.

Ian McDiarmid stalked for autographs I don't blame any Star Wars actor for being an a-hole given what they sometimes go through. As Carrie Fisher once said, Star Wars has provided them with "a small merry band of stalkers." I was at a screening of Shattered Glass at the Chicago Film Festival a few years ago and some of the SW fans were pretty obnoxious and angry with Hayden Christensen when he didn't take 6 hours to sign every toy, poster, book etc. for everyone lined up outside of the theater.

I'll give you that. I think the ending of the film spoiled it for me. I'm not really into horror films based in some kind of sense of reality where the killer can't be killed. If it's a cyborg from the future like in Terminator, fine. But if it's an escaped mental patient, he shouldn't be Superman. Then again, maybe I'm just mad that none of my babysitters ever looked like Jamie Lee Curtis.

I fail to see the genius of No Country for Old Men, but maybe I'll "get it" on a second viewing. Also saw the original Halloween last year and was completely unimpressed, but I guess that the impact of many horror movies fade over time.

Didn't AICN's early review of Attack of the Clones make it sound like the film was the Citizen Kane of the 21st century? That's when I stopped caring what AICN thinks about movies.
