I'm really undecided as to wether I should buy it or not. As much as I want the 3 selections from AOTC, I don't want to pay again for the pieces I already have... and certainly not for that shame of a Main Title that keeps showing up in every ******* Star Wars sheet music book. The only thing that piece of crap has in common with the real Main Title is the melody, and even that isn't 100% correct!

You mean that ascending A-B-C-a.... motive? I think it is the JP2 danger motive, as JP has its 4-note danger motive, too. If you notice, Davis wrote a similarly constructed 4-note motive for JP3, a genius stroke for continuity, in my eyes

My Official Star Wars Magazine says that "Orn Free Ta" originates from "Corn Fritter" and was made up by George Lucas's children. (or so)

As I read it, John Takis said there were about 124 minutes of original music in the film, and Rick McCallum stated that Williams recorded 125 minutes of music. So if this is correct, there is almost all the recorded music in the movie.

Does anyone remember that supposedly false script that floated around the net a few years ago? "Indiana Jones and the Sons of Darkness" I found it a very enjoyable read.

Now a Piano Concerto would be great! I've always wondered why he hasn't already done one, since he's a pianist himself.

The thing about which the viola player (?) was speaking who gave a report from the scoring sessions... a monumental outburst of theme, which he found really great. This was replaced with the Imperial March.

But thanks for the tip with the music video, I hadn't thought of that before. While watching it I now noticed some (more or less) interesting bits about the sheet music. At roughly 4:03 (or so) you can clearly see the score Johnny is conducting from, and he's using the 8-system sketch score for that instead of the full score. Perhaps that saves time as he doesn't have to turn pages every few seconds
(at 2:02 there is a closer look on the sketch score, as well as on the full score, which seems very huge )-Chris, who would almost give his arm to obtain a complete full score of 2 hours for any Star Wars movie.

Sorry, what is the difference you see when someone conducts a 3/4 as opposed to a 9/8? Both are conducted as 3 beats per measure (unless the tempo is so terribly slow that he can conduct all 9 8th notes... that's not the case here).

I believe the first measure of the theme, played by the oboe, is in 4/4 meter, as is the introduction. From there it switches to 3/4 until the B part of the theme.
Of course, I can't really say if Williams notated it in 3/4 or in 9/8. I would write it in 3/4 (and I'm pretty sure the two final theme presentations at least are in 3/4), but given the fact that he put the Hogwarts theme, consisting mostly of dual 8th notes and only occasional triplets, in triple meter in some parts of HArry Potter, it could of course also be 9/8.

I still am sure that it is rather a 3/4 and 4/4 meter, considering that in the final two theme presentations the triplets are gone (except the few ones in the melody) and instead we have this 16th notes/syncopated rhythm in woodwinds (1st time) and brass (2nd time).

How's this person called... the blue skinned one with the horns on his head, "This is a crisis" etc. He was also played by a different actor in TPM. But, und that makeup it doesn't matter much

I only have the original versions of the trilogy taped from TV, with German dub and commercial breaks. However, I seem to be one of the few persons that are actually happy with their Special Edition box set

I really enjoy this CD, get it now! I didn't hesitate a second when I had the possibility of either buying this or the "Call of the Champions" CD
I like the violin concerto very much, and it is really interesting to compare the new version with the original from 1978... in my opinion most of the change really work
