  3. Yeah, there is a difference between sharp and flat notes (ie A# is a different pitch than Bb), but on instruments suck as clarinets and the such it is more difficult to play the differences. Brass instruments, such as the horn, have a much easier time of playing the differences, though it doesn't come as natural as it would on a string instrument.
  4. Hi, I was wondering if there are any available recordings of his horn concerto? I ordered my copy of the concerto today, but without so much as a recording or a score image I have no idea what I'm getting into! Thanks!
  5. I was actually quite saddened the day I was introduced to Phantom. I didn't enjoy the music too much.
  6. I think I got it...I believe thoughts of home is in 12/8 time actually, which would explain why it can be counted as straight four and feel like 3 sometimes.
  7. Thanks. Its wierd because usually I'm good at picking those things out but this one piece just throws me off for one reason on another.
  8. I've been wanting to transcribe Thoughts of Home from Munich, but interestingly enough I cannot pinpoint what meter the piece is in. I would greatly appreciate any help. I keep thinking its in three, but I'm not sure. Thanks!
  9. Oh yes...the following is from an article on horn history... There is much more to the article...actually a very interesting read. But as you can see, the "French" Horn is actually quite German. The full article is here...http://www.hornplanet.com/hornpage/museum/...n_history1.html
  10. Well French Horn is the common name but Horn in F is the official name, as decided by the IHS (International Horn Society). I sometimes called it French Horn too, because horn in general does tend to cause confusion and if I said Horn in F...well then forget about it. And kudos to he who brought up the triple horn, a double horn is already tough for most people to grasp the idea of, let alone one that plays in three keys. Ha, if I could get my hands on a triple...F Alto must be a godsend...
  11. Spielberg Shares JP IV Ideas What's next for Jurassic Park? by Paul Davidson November 11, 2005 - Steven Spielberg is taking a personal interest in Jurassic Park again, and some of the bits he cut from the first two films are going to make it into the fourth one. The accomplished director shared some of his plan for the next movie in the dino series with students of the University of Southern California during a recent question and answer session. One scene he regrets leaving out of The Lost World was a major sequence in which the film's characters try to outrun velociraptors on motorcycles – the characters ride the motorcycles, not the raptors. Get it? The filmmakers said he definitely intends to include that sequence in Jurassic Park IV. Spielberg also says that he's taking another look at Michael Crichton's original novel to find parts that would make solid additions to the next movie. Now, if only we could get Spielberg to commit to a date. There's still no firm word on when production on JP IV may get underway. .......................................... So, as it seems JP4 WILL end up being made and Spielberg plans to direct, do we think that Williams will return to it?
  12. I don't necassarily believe they are trying to "re-invent" his name rather than using a marketing tactic. They obviously must feel it would appeal to those who enjoyed Schindler's List and used that to the album's advantage.
  13. I saw the commercial this morning with the female vocal solo. Absolutely beautiful...and my want for this album increased by a good 50%.
  14. I have an "its not the gun that kills people, people kill people" attitude about it. The Force itself is just one energy, one power. It is the users of it that are either light or dark. Light side force users it would seem use the Force very sparingly or very subtley. Dark users use it for bobasting evil things, obvious stuff like the lightnig, choking, ect. The balance is in the usage of the Force, sort of keeping it to a minimum. That way there isn't just Jedi subtleties and bombastic Sith powers, just the Force. It's hard for me to explain, but it makes sense in my head.
  15. March From 1941 - my favorite. By the way, does anyone have the piano transcription of it?
  16. I was just wondering, because i love hearing the piano recordings of othe JW pieces, but this one i am most interestd in heraing. If you know of any could you let me know? Thanks!
  17. Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe the throne room theme appears: 1. During the Hyperspace cue as the rebel fleet prepares to jump. 2. At the end of the end credits fanfare.
  18. Not to be a stickler but it really annoys me when people call the horn a "French" Horn. The official name for horn is Horn in F or just horn for short. IT IS NOT FRENCH. I'm only touchy about that because thats what I play. Its my favorite instrument too.
  19. I would like it if maybe someone could pm me a link to this soundtrack. Thanks.
  20. I hum all the time, and often get in trouble witht those around me who constantly tell me to stop. I love doing full orcehstrations and tracks too, I can't just start and not get to the end. I make up action tracks in Williams style too, mostly in the shower (where I hum the loudest).
