Hi, @m_giacchino is there any accuracy to the AICN rumor you're assisting John Williams in scoring Star Wars VII?
Michael Giacchino @m_giacchino 13m
@MakingStarWars - nope - JW surely doesn't need help from me / he's done this before and it will be brilliant as always.
I was coming here to post that. Just so you guys know, JWFan was instrumental in getting an official answer. I work with the guy who got a response from Giacchino and asked him to get an official answer that I could share with you. Now we can all relax.

‘Jurassic World’ Scores ‘The Incredibles’ Composer Michael Giacchino
Colin Trevorrow is directing the Universal movie, which stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and dinosaurs
Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino has closed a deal to score “Jurassic World,” the next installment of the hit “Jurassic Park” series, Universal announced Monday.
Colin Trevorrow is directing the epic action-adventure movie from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly.
Since his TV collaborations on “Lost” and “Alias” with J.J. Abrams, Giacchino has become one of the most in-demand composers in Hollywood. He scored both “Star Trek” movies, the last two “Mission: Impossible” movies and such Pixar hits as “The Incredibles,” Ratatouille,” “Cars 2” and “Up,” the latter of which earned him an Academy Award.
“My first stop-motion movies at 9-years-old involved stories where dinosaurs and men were trapped together on long-lost islands or far away planets. My first composing job was to write the score for the Steven Spielberg-produced video game based on the film ‘The Lost World,’ which was one of the earliest console video games to feature an original orchestral score,” said Giacchino. “Having the chance to work on this new movie with the talented director Colin Trevorrow is an incredible opportunity to bring full circle the journey of dinosaurs and film that started in my backyard over 30 years ago.”
“Michael Giacchino is a fiercely creative musical mind and a true ‘Jurassic Park’ fan. While this new score will honor the indelible work of John Williams, our mission is the same as the film itself–to create something bold and new for people who love dinosaurs,” added Trevorrow.
Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing “Jurassic World,” which will be executive produced by original director Steven Spielberg. John Williams composed the iconic “Jurassic Park” theme.
The “Jurassic Park” franchise has grossed more than $1.9 billion worldwide, and Universal will release “Jurassic World” in 3D in June 2015.
Giacchino's upcoming projects include “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Jupiter Ascending” and Brad Bird's “Tomorrowland.” He's represented by the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency.

For those in Orange County, California, it will be on the big screen near South Coast Plaza on June 27th.

yet disney chanels air spiderman toons.
Correct. Not that long ago, Disney got the animated rights to Spider-Man back. They made some concessions with Sony to get these. That is why you see animated Spider-Man on Disney, crossing over with Tony Stark and the like. Disney owns the animated rights to Fantastic Four and that is why you see the Thing and Reed Richards pop up in the Avengers animated series.
They tried to have a small "film" crossover in The Incredible Hulk. They wanted the Hulk to have his college campus fight at the college that Peter Parker went to but Sony said no. There would be no Spider-Man or mention of Peter Parker, just the name of the college but Sony still denied it.

Why isn't Spiderman in the Avengers?
As far as the movies are concerned, Sony has the movie rights to Spider-Man, Fox has Fantastic Four and that's why you won't see things from the those movies crossing over into the Marvel Studios films.

Since they are still working on the audio for this, you might be right.
I'll be there though.

Maybe there's already a topic for this but I really enjoy the Prisoner of Azkaban Suite on The Essential Harry Potter by the City of Prague. Did Williams arrange that?
Either way, anyone have a list of Suites he arranged but are only available from other conductors?
Also, forgive any mistakes in terminology. Someone feel free to correct me if I have the phrasing wrong.

I still love Glenn Close.

North America, United States, California, Orange County, Garden Grove.

Didn't really care for it by itself. I haven't seen the movie yet, probably tomorrow, but this was definitely a one and done listening for me.

I probably buy too many movies on Blu-ray but when they get under 10 dollars, it's hard not to buy a decent movie or even a blind buy...Outlander...cough cough.
-
Wow. That's really awesome. Give us a report some time.

I'm watching Brotherhood these days (I bought season 1 hoping it would be good) but I wouldn't really recommend it.
Really? I found it VERY good but to each his own. I don't think it's anything like nor tries to be The Wire.

The times it's fake pulls me out of it. Once seen...and all that.

The Blu-ray is gorgeous. Watching in numerical order and just finished AOTC today. It was great except for all the scenes with fake beard Obi-Wan. It always stood out but moreso now it seems.

I loved Iwo Jima but disliked Flags of our Fathers. Fathers felt disjointed and all over the place to me. It's worth a watch but I wanted something different.
-
Okay. Thanks!

Jason's correct. That's what I meant.

So when Anakin is leaving home, was the abrupt end to the music as written? The transition to the next scene always seemed too quick to me.

If any admin or mod gives the thumbs up to post a mediafire link for just the relevant pages scanned from a magazine, I'll publicly post the link.

Not sure I can post links to a scan of an article (probably not) but there was an interesting article about the restoration work done by Matt Wood on the original Star Wars. Basically, they went in and built the new 6.1 mix from scratch. They got the original effects files, the ADR sessions, and found "the original music masters." and then had to go seconds at a time to make sure they actually used the correct takes in all the new mix. I'd love to hear those masters.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been here since 2005 actually but don't participate in conversations that much. Not to sound all "woe is me" but the knowledge here is a little intimidating at times but I do enjoy reading everything quite a bit.

Man. You guys really know your stuff. I have nothing to contribute to this thread but just wanted to say thanks for an instructional and entertaining read.

Ramsay has enough shows to start a 24/7 channel but I love them all. Might I suggest these if you haven't seen them...

LONG TIME lurker. I think I've had an account here since the Attack of the Clone days. It's always been hard for me to engage in a serious discussion here because the knowledge level is so over my head but I love reading what people have to say and contributing whatever I can. Recently, my buddy started a Star Wars website called Makingstarwars.net and asked me to assist with selecting music for the podcast as well as for commercial breaks. I also write articles or point out things I find on the internet that pertain to Star Wars (That's how Kiner's uploading of more Clone Wars music came to be widely known.) It's grown fairly large, VERY quickly and now we are listed as one of the fan sites on Starwars.com.
If anyone ever wants to write an article about the music of Star Wars, we'd be happy to publish it. Obviously there would be no pay involved as we don't see a dime ourselves but I'm certain there are some really knowledgable smart people out there that would love to inform us all about the beauty of Williams and his Star Wars music.
