  1. Well, the site is working with me, but at least you know when the disc is released there... Here we haven't got HP and Chamber of Secrets yet, and no one knows when it is suposed to arrive... And if I ask about htis I wonder what they will answer me!
  2. Get both! This is even better than his film music -- on my opinion, of course. But if I had to choose only one... Treesong is one of my favorite pices by Mr. Williams -- we share a love for trees, and that may help Nevertheless, I do belive the his Cello Concerto is in fact is fines concert work to date -- really a marvelous piece. And the rest of the disc is also fantastic -- from the more film music sounding Elegy to the somewhat minimalist sounding Heartwood, this is a magnificent disc. The Five Sacred Trees is also highly recomended, and is more close to the sound of the cinematic Williams -- the addtition of some music by others is also very interestingg, mainly the expressionistic Takemitsu's TreeLine. If you don't want to go into less well known territory, then American Journey, his Trumped Concerto or his Tuba Concerto are good choices, being closer to his film music. Sicerely, I wonder I could live without Mr. Williams concert music...
  3. a) you can upload this to a web space, or B) e-mail the mp3 files. The last one has the problem of many free e-mail acounts have little space for this (I don't have that problem, since my mailbox is some 15 mb large) or then, e-mail me so we can talk about how to trade this mp3 disc
  4. Are they really arranged by Mr. Williams? He recorded two diferent arrangements of Chariots of Fire and one of 1492, but none of them by him self. Can you make mp3's of this available to me?
  5. Most of Martin Ritt films have very few underscore. His 1989 collaboration with John Williams in "Stanley and Iris", with over 30 minutes of music is an exception.
  6. The late Barbara Ruick first met Williams in high school and she used to sing on their jazz band. When Williams returned to LA frrom New York, they married. Mrs Barbara Ruick Williams was a singer and actress. She can be heard (and seen) on the film version of Rodger's "Carousel" and on a recording of Gershwin's "Oh, Kay!" (Sony/Columbia Broadway SK60703)
  7. Mr. Williams is not Jr. His father was John F. Williams (don't really know for wath the "F" stands for), while he is John Towner Williams.
  8. Yes, she is another Esther Williams. And I think she played the piano and sing a little.
  9. Yes, I also got the part were he talked about his late wife and Isaac Stern. But I think that the problem I had wasn't with my connection. The connection with the bradcast was always falling... My internet connection is working well today.
  10. Has anyone taped this? Or recorded the web broadcast? I unfortunatelly wasn't able to get the web broadcast right, but the short bits I was able to get were fantastic... If anyone has a recording of this interview, please e-mail me. Maybe we can work a trade
  11. Sabrina! Anyhting from Sabrina makes me feel in love!
  12. That is one of my favorite books from my childhood. Haven't re-read it in a long time... Maybe I'll pick it to read it over the weekend (if I have the time...)
  13. Is it, by any chance, the Little Prince?
  14. If you want to share this over the internet, please go ahead.
  15. Right now, I'm somewaht busy, but e-mail me and maybe we can work something out.
  16. I can traded cd-r's with it, if you're asking that. The file is some 500 mg large, too much for my internet connection.
  17. The BBC special was amde when Williams was in London recording TESB. Thre was some material also filmed in LA, in his office, with Kershenr, Lucas, Wanberg and the late Herbert Spencer (really nice for those who think Williams uses orchestrators because he can't orchestrate himself ) This was broadcasted back then and I have a vhs and a mpeg file of that. Don't really know if this was broadcasted again later.
  18. I have a 1995 release of that from Halmark. For track list and cover go here: http://johnwilliams.jw-music.net/comp_col_...disc/302972.htm
  19. The village is Beverly Hills. There's a short look at the exterior of his house on the famous 1980 BBC 60 minute program made about him. For the full article, you can visit my we site, following the "Can't Read Portuguese" link.
  20. I guess he meant harp  Mozart's 25th Piano Concerto (Bernstein & The Israel P.O.)
  21. I love this book very much, one of my favorite from recent years. So I fell in love with teh Sony version with narration. I do hope Mr. Williams takes the time to record the suite with narration he conducted a couple of years ago in Boston.
  22. Is that the one when he conducts Shostakovich's Festive Overture? Yes, it is.
  23. Don't you love when Benny said something like that... One can even feel his anger!
  24. Didn't could I! Home Alone was available in the early 90's at a local store that as closed a few years ago. That was a great cd store, where I got one of the rarities in my collection: The Accidental Tourist. Home Alone 2 I had to order and wait for it for a long time... but the song album is still available... I remeber seing it recently.
  25. For the last year or so, everything in Portugal has to pay custom taxes, even if it is a gift! The only ones that escape are the stuff were the price is very low or then very small packs (like cd's sent on envelopes).
