bruce marshall reacted to Naïve Old Fart in Next James Bond actor after Daniel Craig?
Geez, Louise! That fake trailer is better than the whole of NO TIME TO DIE

I’m usually simpatico with your position on most things, but you’re way off base here—NTTD was a fine movie. Even got me a bit misty-eyed toward the end.

bruce marshall reacted to Edmilson in Next James Bond actor after Daniel Craig?
It's weird that Hollywood kept casting him in spy roles but never as Bond, even after Craig retired the role. It would be a better use of his talents than crap like Argylle.
I'm not a fan of NTTD either. Honestly, I may like it even less than Spectre (which at least starts strong).

bruce marshall reacted to Schilkeman in Do you think Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece?
To curate is to select and organize. There is nothing in the definition of the word about making anything shorter. The process of curation can whittle unwanted items to form a smaller collection.

JW's recording is much better. Herrmann's is way too slow.

Cleopatra. Fantastic score, among North's best. Very rich and always interesting. The three principal themes are to die for.

It is North's best.

bruce marshall reacted to Thor in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Definitely does! One of my top 50 scores even.
I've tried multiple times to get into CLEOPATRA, but I can't.

bruce marshall reacted to Datameister in Interstellar (2014 film directed by Christopher Nolan)
I'm so excited. Didn't see this film until last year and I absolutely loved it. It emphasizes all my favorite things about Nolan's films and minimizes all my least favorite things about them. I will definitely jump at the chance to see it in IMAX.

bruce marshall reacted to Richard Penna in Hans Zimmer's THE THIN RED LINE (1998) - 2019 4-CD La-La Land Edition
Revisiting the sessions and comparing to the OST, the only cue I found myself wanting to add was 'Witt With Melanisians' (although which version they've included is the question). It's a case where I think Zimmer did a superb job condensing the score into a listening experience.

bruce marshall reacted to Dixon Hill in Hans Zimmer's THE THIN RED LINE (1998) - 2019 4-CD La-La Land Edition
Really special score. The amount of material makes it hard to come up with a truly definitive presentation, but it's great to see it getting this treatment. Really a masterwork of film and music.

bruce marshall reacted to Mr. Hooper in Hans Zimmer's THE THIN RED LINE (1998) - 2019 4-CD La-La Land Edition
I still listen to the OST that I ran out to buy in '98. It's a concise presentation of all the moods and vibes of the movie, and for me a satisfying listening experience from start to finish. I thought I'd be all over any kind of expansion if one ever came out, but I've remained faithful to the original album.

This is a phenomenal score.
Under the radar .
Check it out.
The film is essential to fully appreciate it
Is that Hanks and Streep playing historical figures. Again!?

bruce marshall reacted to Thor in The Christopher Young Appreciation Thread
Much better. Lurie's isn't too bad, but can't compare. Also, I'm kinda boycotting Lurie these days, due to issues that are forbidden to talk about here.

I mean, he's one of the best around for horror, but my favourites of his lie elsewhere.

I love this film!
Was never able to get into the soundtrack, but thanks for the reminder. Might give it another go.

bruce marshall reacted to mstrox in Joker (Hildur Guðnadóttir)
Hell yeah, brother! This is the best possible thing they could do for a Joker sequel, and I’m not joking.

bruce marshall reacted to A24 in Joker (Hildur Guðnadóttir)
A ballsy decision given that the previous musical, West Side Story, bombed at the box office.

bruce marshall reacted to Goldfinger in Joker (Hildur Guðnadóttir)
For everyone complaining that all superhero movies are the same and people are getting bored, let's see the reaction to this. Honestly, if Gaga is indeed playing Harley Quinn and their love story is told through song as they go around causing chaos around them it could be spectacular.

bruce marshall reacted to A24 in Joker (Hildur Guðnadóttir)
Joker wasn't typical superhero movie. It was the Joker doing Taxi Driver. Who knows, maybe each movie of this Joker franchise will be a different genre, even though, the social drama aspect seem to have worked for the first one.
