bruce marshall reacted to Omen II in JW in the classic FM Hall of Fame 2020 - 13 entries!
The annual Classic FM poll is based on the radio station's listeners nominating their three favourite pieces of classical (in the broadest sense of the term) music.  Classic FM tends to play the more accessible pieces from the classical repertoire without too much variety - you are unlikely to hear any Stockhausen or Boulez, for example - therefore to some degree the poll will always reflect the pieces they play most.  Prokofiev is played on Classic FM, but it tends to be either Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet or the troika from Lieutenant Kije and not much else.

@Fabulin's list shows the composers with most entries in the top 300 and the positions of those entries.

If Classic FM was a BBC station you might have a point about diversity, but Ronald Binge's music is about as white and English as you can get.  His light music is especially well loved by British listeners of a certain age, especially Sailing By, Elizabethan Serenade and The Watermill.  Listeners will not vote for something they don't like, so it is a fairly democratic poll at least.  As for Einaudi, while the attraction of his music is largely lost on me, the fact is that Classic FM plays it an awful lot so he is bound to feature prominently in any poll of listeners to the station.

bruce marshall reacted to Thor in Favourite piano performances by John Williams himself?
I looked through 6 pages of previous threads that had the word 'piano' in the headline, but could find none about this subject, in particular. So I hope it hasn't been done before.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our favourites of Williams' own piano performances -- whether in film, on albums or any other circumstance. That is, occasions where he plays piano himself.

Feel free to share Youtube videos, but if you share a lot at the same time, PLEASE PUT THEM IN SPOILER TAGS. Otherwise, the page loads forever. Thank you! But even better: The topic will go on longer if we just share one at a time, with a sentence or two as to why you've picked it.

I have a huge catalogue of personal favourites myself, but to start off easy and to not hog this entire topic myself right off the bat, I just want to share this little track from Mancini's COMBO! (1961) album, which features Williams goofing around on a harpshicord, in typical 60s baroque jazz style. Love it!

In 2021 you don't need a computer to watch most internet streams, especially something as universal as youtube

Just get this $30 stick and plug it into a free HDMI port on your TV and you have instant youtube on your television

Sure, THEMES FOR TELEVISION is great, although - again - it's not technically a soundtrack. I believe this is a collection of cues that Jewel wrote, intended for Lynch to use in TWIN PEAKS, but none of it was used - except fragments of one of the tracks. Between this and WINDSWEPT, it's all a rather confusing affair. I don't have total overview myself. Just think of them as great Johnny Jewel albums and forget about the TWIN PEAKS connection.

Assuming you're asking about JW scores and not all scores that exist, the answer is Heartbeeps in 1981 was the last film he scored that didn't get an OST album

    Interested in a trade?
    I'll settle for a cdr😊
Was BS the last score that didn't get a contemporary ost released?
WOLFEN is really the template for his subsequent scores.
    Still my favorite of his!😍
Was that poster used for the one sheet?
    Seems impossible- areola is visible!

Really, apart from the handful of well-flowing longer cues - solely attributable to Goldsmith - there's just nothing to see/hear here. Sometimes, less is indeed more.

bruce marshall reacted to Brundlefly in The Western Scores of Jerry Goldsmith
Not really. I've bought One Little Indian (but until now it is just decorating my CD shelf), plus I familiarized myself with Bandolero! by using it as background music for Red Dead Redemption II - to great effect! But that's about it. I have currently several Goldsmith scores in my collection that I haven't listened to yet - The Great Train Robbery, One Little Indian, Raggedy Man, Warning Shot and The Swarm.
