L’Homme de Rio - Philippe de Broca
With Jean-Paul Belmondo. One of my favourite adventure comedies of my childhood. Hadn't seen it for decades. Still great movie. Spielberg admitted that this was one of the movies that inspired him for Raiders of the Lost Ark. And when you watch it, you know why. A lot of parallels that I did not recognize At the time.

It's one I pushed to do for two years BEFORE a certain producer left the company. I like it that much.

I had to switch off Coming2America after 20 minutes. It was unbearable.

Of course. Since about 1992.
Incidentally, I showed this scene in a film music lecture yesterday. Funny coincidence.

bruce marshall reacted to Jules in What Is The Last Score You Listened To From 2021?
I've liked everything Mosseri has done so far, he really does have a distinct voice. Last Black Man is still my favourite, would also recommend the film which is quite unique itself.

I never had a CD player that lasted 5 years. And I treat my gear with respect!

10 to 20 years is bad?! By that time I would already have replaced it with the latest and greatest model. Really, back in the day, I don't think I ever had a deck that failed on me. I can't say the same about silver disc spinners (CD / DVD / Blu-ray).

Half of it is in slow motion so if you speed it up it might be 150 minutes or so.

I remember my clueless, pretentious film school colleagues criticizing it as " fascist"!
(It was claimed it was " copied" from TRIUMPH OF THE WILL.😒)
I love how JW slyly parodies Elgar in the B section!😊

I understand what you meant and am very perplexed why karelm reacted like you had accused Giacchino of something serious.

A quaint ensemble score for clarinets, violin, double bass and cowbells (yes, cowbells). This particular sort of pared-down approach seems to be trending quite well in arthouse circles, and I'm (generally) here for it. On that note, I must say that First Kiss has that Mosseri feel to it, especially when the vocals come in. Highlights are Tallie (track 4), Falling in Love (track 8), the aforementioned First Kiss (track 9), and The Fire (track 14).
