Once reacted to KingPin in Mark Graham just picked up a John Williams sketch and is "in a rush"! Any ideas?
I would venture to guess it is Williams’ arrangement of By the Beautiful Sea listed in this program I pulled from the BSO Archives, the lyrics of which go “By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea…” This piece was played at multiple performances that week, one of which I had actually attended back when I was in high school. I don’t remember much about the arrangement other than that it was in a similar vein as his Hooray for Hollywood arrangement and that (you guessed correctly!) it featured a brief quote of the Jaws bass line at the very end of the piece. Anyone curious about how the tune sounds (though not the same arrangement) can listen to The Ferris Wheel Sequence from Williams’ score to 1941.

Once reacted to Andy in John Williams on Variety Cover (article & video)
No. The photos and article are identical. The last page of the magazine has a nice photo of Goldie Hawn presenting Johnny with his Oscar.
and the contents page has a behind the scenes pic.
But Variety is a weird magazine. There are more pages of ads congratulating Lenny Kravitz for his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame than there are for JW.

Oops, yes.

Once reacted to Thor in John Williams Reimagined Album (Arranged for flute, cello & piano)
Kinda intriguing. Glad they snuck in some offbeat titles among the superfamous evergreens.
But the blurb leaves out the most important information -- who did the arrangements? Pedroni for all of them (he's listed with transcription in the actual YouTube clip itself)?

My pictures while examining those sheets. Was such a thrill to hold the original, hand written full scores!

New Mark Graham video.

Here's some screen caps as I watch
He says the sketch he picked up from Williams a few weeks ago was updates to an arrangement for a concert
And then he said that at 11AM PST today, there is a recording of Star Wars music. Maybe Williams wrote something for The Acolyte?

Got my print copy off eBay. I got tired of calling Barnes and Noble and asking if they carry Variety and getting different answers.

Once got a reaction from Sylvan in The Legacy of John Williams (Website & Podcast)
The new website looks fantastic. I look forward to having the time to really browse through all the content. Even though it's not complete yet, the "Works"-pages are gonna be a great resource, I feel. I love that recording dates are included and also the easy overview of recordings of his classical work.

OST track "Reflections" is not in the film at all (it might be an alternate for "The Letter", perhaps
Most of OST track "The Fabelmans" replaces the first half of "Mother and Son" in the film, but its unclear if it was written as a revised opening to that cue, or an album cue that ended up in the film as a replacement

Once reacted to Jay in The Fabelmans - score in the film
There's 1:01:55 of music in the final film (which runs 2:30:46)
38:12 of that is source music
23:43 is original John Williams score
And those 24 minutes of score don't exactly match with the music on the OST album. It seems the film used different takes than the OST album for most cues (maybe all cues).
Outside of those performances differences, there's still music in the film that isn't on the album, and music on the album that isn't in the film. Weird.

Nice! So 9M2 has 3 versions, and there's a cue with an 'alt end', so....room for expansion some day!

Once reacted to ocelot in I need your help please xox
Hey all. I uploaded a newer piece on youtube and was hoping if you guys listened to it and liked it that you would help me out with thumbs up for algorithm purposes. The piece was called Baba Yaga when we recorded it in 2019 but it's officially called Death of Koschei the Deathless now. I wasn't allowed to share it all until it had a world premiere and that happened 18th of Feb.
Much Love and Thanks!

Once reacted to Thor in The Official Zbigniew Preisner Thread
I don't know what's missing or not, or "dark elements" left out etc. It's been ages since I saw THE SECRET GARDEN. It's not really something I care about. All I know is that the wonderful Varese CD captures the child innocence and rite-de-passage wonderfully, through many permutations. When it comes to Preisner, he's better served in smaller, or should I say REASONABLE, doses. There's a lot of repetition and singular mood elements that are better served in 30-40 minute doses. If people want an expanded release, that's a-ok with me.
However, I was happy to bring up the score two years ago, in a Zoom chat with the composer (a lifelong dream, btw). I think he's pretty proud of it.

Once reacted to Yavar Moradi in The Official Zbigniew Preisner Thread
So… it’s honestly not just a half hour of that material, but I will sadly admit that the Varese album does focus much more on that material and only has a little bit of the great darker stuff that permeates the film. A Deluxe Edition release would do wonders in terms of reappraisal of this great score. If you view the film again and then revisit the Varese, you’ll notice giant chunks of musical story and development are missing.

I concur with Thor; this score is a masterpiece which I grew up with. Unfortunately, the Varese album is only about half the score and leaves off a great deal of the darker material that I like better. But try this cue on for size, for something really lovely:
