2025 has been awesome - on top of everything you mentioned, we got expansions of Patriot, The Reivers, Black Sunday, and Jaws!

I've been very busy lately, I haven't had time to post much (although I always find time to read the forums, of course).
But leading up to the world premiere of 'When the World Was Waltzing' I've felt such an excitement to still be living at a time where John Williams is writing new music. It's extraordinary!!! I don't know when I'll get the hear the waltz - or 'Serenade for Horn and Strings' - but just knowing that new music is being penned by Williams is such a thrill.
Now we also have a new film score from Williams to look forward to. I've been optimistic about Williams's potential involvement in the project, but of course it wasn't a given. I also feel pretty optimistic that it won't necessarily be his last - at least I feel confident that Williams will keep writing music for as long as is humanly possible.
And again, it's such a special feeling knowing we're living at a time when Williams still writes new music!!! Every piece feels monumental, in a way. I remember feeling the same excitement back in 2011 when he suddenly started doing lots of film scores again. And I also remember feeling similarly when he 'returned' after the uncertain Covid-years.
It's somehow still feels miraculous.
So yeah, I'm exited!

Once reacted to Jay in Official Danny Elfman Thread
Elfman is scoring two films that open in January by directors for whom he's scored many of their films before
"Dead Man's Wire" by Gus Vant Sant on January 9 (their 8th collaboration)
"Send Help" by Sam Raimi on January 30 (their 7th collaboration)

He's scoring JJ Abram's new movie as well. Trust me guys, I got the scoop when it was filming in Providence.

Can confirm this is real. Recording this week in LA as well as periodically until January.
I have personal feelings about Woetzel but he's not lying.

Once reacted to hp_gof in Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein - Music By Alexandre Desplat (2025)
Interview with Desplat in Spanish:
https://www.lacuarta.com/espectaculos/noticia/alexandre-desplat-compositor-de-frankenstein-cuando-guillermo-del-toro-llora-se-que-encontre-la-melodia/
- Desplat had never seen any Frankenstein movies before this one.
- He composed waltzes, melodies, and lullabies two years earlier for the set.
- He wrote the creature’s theme first.
- He was exhausted after finishing the score and needed a vacation.
- He felt a great connection with the musicians, which doesn’t happen on a daily basis.

Once reacted to Maurizio in Upcoming world premiere of John Williams' "Serenade for Horn and Strings" - October 26, 2025
It's an absolutely sweet and lovely piece. It has the forlorn, wistful character of other Williams adagios, but there's also a speck of serenity. I hope it will become part of the instrument's repertoire.

Once reacted to Will in Will John Williams score Steven Spielberg's new UFO movie?
Yeah good catch on that -- I think the Adams/Goldwasser exchange really clinches it. Confirms beyond doubt that this wasn't simply the Julliard president misspeaking or something like that.

Once reacted to Maurizio in John Williams is "working with Steven Spielberg" on his 2026 UFO movie!
This is not an official announcement, but something that was spilled informally at a public event by the president of one of the most prestigious music schools in the world, therefore the more casual wording used, but it's clear that what he's saying is that Williams is writing the music for the new Spielberg film. What else he should've intended?
I can only suppose that an official press release with the announcement will be made at some point sooner rather than later.

Once reacted to Maurizio in John Williams is "working with Steven Spielberg" on his 2026 UFO movie!
I don’t think Woetzel was supposed to break the news, but now the cat is out of the bag and everyone should be cheerful.
He said “he’s in LA doing what he does—he’s working with Steven Spielberg on his next film.” It doesn’t take a degree in English literature to understand that he’s implying that Williams is composing the music for it.

Almost as many words spent describing Mutter's wardrobe as Williams' piece. The classical establishment strikes back!
