I had downloaded the trailer for Treasure Planet a few weeks ago and I noticed the music. Anyway, the movie looks great and I hope James newton Howard mainatins his tradition of writing great scores for the disney films, after his absolutley brilliant work on Atlantis: The Lost Empire, that has quickly become one of my all time favourite scores.

I was being cynical in the Keanu Reeves remark..he's one of the few actors I actually hate.

Schindler's list is the best score and film of all time in my book (although it's curious, SL doesn't need the music to still be bloody brilliant, but it helps a lot).

Just seeing the bicycles fly with music makes me cry. Those scens wouldn't be half as good without that music. But Jaws is incredibly effective. BUt I had to go for E.T...just for the emotional response the combination of sound and image give me.

Visual Effects, sound and sound editing are sure things. Costuem design, art direction and score would be ver deserved nominations, IMHO. I really really love the score to AOTC. But I'm afraid the academy won't give it any oscars, although it is clearly the best movie so far in some categories.

Well, I think some credit shoudl be given to Elfman, since he has got no formal musical education. And did you guys he creates his own percurssion instruments, having used some of them in Planet of the Apes?

I forgot that one from Mars Attacks, quaver. I just love when the flag comes out Jack Nicholson's body and the Martians all slaute it. YAK YAK YAK YAK or is it DAH DAH DAH DAH?

Or Keanu Reeves. He's all charisma.

The best sci fi films outisde starwars are, IMHO, 2001, Aliens, Terminator 2, A.I, Close Encounters. No matrix in there for me. The best scifi story, however is, IMHO, without a question, the Dune Chronicles. Too abd there hasn't been a movie that does it any justice. I'm sure Melange agrees with me.

Concerning the Matrix, I have a really hard time liking heros with black glasses...it just takes the noble qualities out of them...makes them look much more like mercenaries.

I als think the Patriot is a better movie, much better than I expected coming from that director.

And I suposed that for your, Morlock, Schindler's List has an extra meaning than to most of us.

The first track is OK, but I actually hate the rest. And some sections of the action music are just like Gladiator's The Battle (or the other way around).

I haven't seen Minority Report yet, but I'm pretty confident it is fantastic.

I only have 11 elfman soundtracks, and all mainstream, so I can't say I have a very complete knowledge of Elfman's work. But I do think his colaborations with Tim Burton are always worth the buy.
