Romão got a reaction from Chewy in WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) 2CD edition from Intrada Records 2020
Perfect time to revisit this score. A bit like the film, I've always thought its highlights were absolutely terrific, but I will focus on the less showy passages

That's the great Goldsmith magic, you can finish off all the orchestral heavyweights with trashy calypso fun á la Deep Rising. Which i'm about to do.

Well, it's tainted by Stepmom and Sleepers.

I actually find Men in Tights and Dracula: Dead and Loving far funnier than other Mel Brooks movies like Spaceballs

Romão got a reaction from Gruesome Son of a Bitch in La-La Land releasing Elliot Goldenthal's Batman Forever January 3rd 2012 (3500 units)
Back then, Batman really had amazing music in pretty much all mediums

Romão reacted to Gurkensalat in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021)
As I wrote in another thread: Tintin 2 would be the ideal movie to do now with all the Mocap in controlled environments. I don‘t care if Jackson or Spielberg is director, just do the movie now, so Williams can start writing music!

It's also notable for its unashamed heart on-its-sleeve (very Horner/Williams) that was not a Goldsmith routine. It really sighs in 'The Patches' (above).

Night Crossing (Jerry Goldsmith) - I always forget how great this score is and how outright enjoyable it is. A great mix of Capricorn One and bold, tuneful 80s Jerry orchestral loveliness (synth free, I think). Always amused that it contains that that oscillating little string motif that appears in pretty much every bit of James Horner scoring in the 80s, plus the descending brass/woodwind motif... I always thought they original Hornerisms, but no... It's all over his Star Trek scores in particular.
Night Crossing has extra special meaning as it was that score which I had signed when I met his Jerryness after an event at the London Film Festival (I think?) at the Museum of the Moving Image where he talked about The Edge with Lee Tamahori. I seem to recall Jerry having a dig about about the temp tracking, notably the opening titles which was tracked with The Last of the Mohicans. Pleasing that his actual main theme isn't really anything like Trevor Jones' memorable theme. I just wish I'd had enough foresight to tell Lee Tamahori to stay away from Bond films (Die Another Die... ugh).

Romão got a reaction from Jurassic Shark in How do you rate John Barry's "Sappy Four"?
I do love the score, but the main theme is easily my least favorite. But I find the Two Socks theme to be absolutely enchanting. And the Pawnee material is quite striking

Romão got a reaction from GerateWohl in Villeneuve's DUNE
Oh yes, very Baleen Whale like. And does bring out the eye parallel
The use of Pink Floyd might be a nod to Jodorowsky's Dune, where they were set to do part of the score

A Little Night Music might still be my favorite Sondheim musical, although I admit some of his other works are essentially superior
