I'm here since the very early days of this place, so I guess I learned to understand its in's and out's. While I've never been a truly active poster, I always enjoyed the good-natured spirit and the lighthearted tone of JWFan. But I understand that in the latter years it became a lot more self-referential and somehow more exclusive to the point where sometimes it's difficult to get it. It's part of the game actually, as discussion boards like this are somehow being surpassed by other social media outlets like Facebook, where people engage more directly with each other and create their own network of friendships and connections, so a lot of them probably don't feel the need to replicate discussions they're already having in other places. Like Thor, I too don't get most of the (zillions) inside jokes and verbal sparring between some users, which sometimes get very nasty and ugly, and that's what keeps me away from most discussions, even if sometimes I'd like to contribute. But I understand this is what JWFan today is and that's what probably keeps it going on, and that's totally fine with me. I check it everyday, even though most of the time I don't feel attached to it anymore.

    Goldsmith on all options.
I own 83 JG scores and 22 JH scores
Goldsmith might have scored more lousy films than Horner, but Horner didn't really score any film of the caliber of Patton, Chinatown, Papillon or Alien

The passage starting at 6:13 of Deserted Sub/Burial/Captured is one of most evocative pieces of being underwater that I have ever heard. I just love that passage

It's probably slightly sped up to better fit the sequence (after all, the piece was not composed for the scene)

The reason they did it is simply to make it shorter, I believe. A more literal adaptation, which Snyder would have been perfectly able to pull off (this guy did that very silly 300 thing, ffs), would have needed a load of more minutes, and a different pacing.
Here's what I meant before. I prefer the endings of the book because the differences in a lot of details crate striking differences in tone between the book and the film. And the tone of the book there is much weirder and random and I like it like that. From the colours of Ozymandias' lair being completely changed, to Ozymandias' presence, to the meaning of Bubastis, to the idea that Dan and Laurie are having sex while Rorscharch dies, to the completely out of nowhere but repeatedly foreshadowed psychic (which is psychic for a reason) "squid" (Moore suddenly screams, yes this is still a silly thing about superheroes), etc. It's less Hollywood. The vision of the million of splashed bodies dripping blood is Hollywoodized into a sort of simple disintegration. The idea of people having fears psychically introduced into their minds is deleted too.
I like two things about the film version. That Ozymandias uses gloves, and the splat of blood after Rorscharch is murdered. That was nice. Book-esque.
The ending would have more impact if we had spent more time with the people who die, maybe. Maybe Laurie's mother should have been placed in New York and died with the rest.
As for the discussion about colors: the colors of the book are on purpose. They did these colour combinations because they were unusual among superhero comic books of the USA, at the time, I believe (I barely read superhero stuff). And it adds to the tone of the book that the film only captures every now and then.
The book is nice. It's probably creative, even if it's through deconstruction and parody. It wouldn't rank about my favourite comic books, though. I feel similarly about the film, just less enthusiastic about the film.

Oh please. You're asking for it by reducing comics to "pretty pictures". It's a storytelling medium, just like literature, films and even radio. It has its own rules and artistic aspitations.
    There's a terrific book/comics about comic as a medium.

I know you won't read it anyway. But if you want something good about comic as art, there it is. Highly recommended!

I agree. One of the reasons Interstellar was so good. He excels in this sort of more textural style of music. For example, I always found Strength and Honor to be one of the most enjoyable tracks from Gladiator

The character was never slutty or trashy in its original creation. It's not only a matter of the look of the costume. It's her whole demeanor. She became that way in the more recent comics and video games. And that absolutely isn't the character I feel in love with
