I found this on the Danny Elfman forum, the moderator emailed Danny's agent. With word on NACHO, I emailed Richard Kraft, Danny's agent to ask whether the news was true and if he could shed some light on the subject. He replied with: "Ryan, Danny Elfman has not removed his name from NACHO LIBRE. He elected not to take a "Music by" credit. Danny Elfman was brought in to do a replacement score on for the film. The final mix of the movie includes about 2/3rds of the score Elfman composed with the other third comprised of music retained from the first score (composed by Beck) as well as other music. For this reason, Elfman chose not to take a "Music by" credit on the film or advertisements. Instead, he decided to take credit for the cues he composed in the End Titles to properly identify his contributions to the final film." That really sucks that this crap happens. Spiderman 2 allover again for sure.

Calling All JWFAN Composers: Recording Fest Chip In?
shaunwcomposer replied to Jeshopk's topic in General Discussion
Hey, if you are looking for a college orchestra to record with, I could possibly help you out. I am a composition major at a university in Illinois, and when I need something recorded, they will do it for me. Private message or email me and we can talk about recording. I can give you some recordings that they have done for me, so you can hear the quality. IT would also cost considerably less to record (depending how much you record.) ~Shaun -

As I have not been a forum member very long, I did not know about this contest. I would love to enter the competition if it is still open. -
I think that there has to be a presence of a motif. When you hear that theme, it makes yo think of the movie, or of the character. That is why John's themes are so good, because they have a leitmotif.

I always thought the way that John always holds his baton is weird. When I see clips of him, the end of the baton is not in the palm of his hand, and it looks like any moment it will fly out of his hand and hit a viola player. lol (wonder if that has ever happened?)

I agree completely morlock. he is without a doubt, in my mind, the most influential film composer ever. he comes out on top no matter who you put him up against.

Though I was introduced to JW with the Star Wars themes, my favorite period of of scores form the movies he has done starts in 77-85. He did some of his best work in that time. i also like 95 - present. Some great themes and scores have come from the past 10 years
