  1. I've never heard that until now but I'm leaning towards "I don't think so".
  2. "Generic for John Williams" and "generic for Lorne Balfe" are two entirely separate planes of existence
  3. The Dial of Destiny is a boring Macguffin that doesn't make anyone want to see the movie. It's just like a National Treasure contraption
  4. Just a lot of classic Hollywood "roman" techniques like sus chords in french horn and the diminished brass stabs. The Lost World esque timpani part reminded me of Spartacus.
  5. I still take more issue with Thor's take that it doesn't sound Roman. It's pretty unmistakably Roman
  6. Fuck I want to see this in 70mm so bad. The Dallas screenings are sold out until August (except for like the 2am ones)
  7. Looks kind of boring. I'll probably pass
  8. Oh, didn't realize that was about CDs. Yeah those are like a niche of a niche Even as physical editions they don't really have the same appeal of vinyl editions, which are larger and aren't in an easily breakable CD case.
  9. I think you downplay how much the general public likes film music. There's a significant portion of "normal people" who like it too. Just look at how the highest selling orchestra concerts are all for film music now. Especially with the rise in mainstream "geek culture".
  10. Also he said his father was "war hero, not some teacher" so he seems pretty pro war
  11. Not a fan of Starship Troopers (film or score), and didn't get too much into what I heard of Flesh and Blood. Haven't heard Wind
  12. To be honest, besides Conan, Poledouris's stuff never did much for me
  13. I feel like DOD's original material at least feels more distinct and separate than TLJ (where the reused material formed the foundation of the score). If anything the DOD OST doesn't have enough Indy's theme, focusing largely on Helena's theme
  14. 1. Rey's Theme 2. Rise of Skywalker (The Rise of Skywalker) 3. The Fabelmans (The Fabelmans) 4. Adventures of Han (Solo) 5. Dear Basketball (Dear Basketball) 6. Kylo Ren's Theme 7. Mother and Daughter (The Post) 8. The Presses Roll (The Post) 9. The BFG friendship theme (The BFG) (0:56 of Blowing Dreams) 10. The Nazi Suite (prologue from The Dial of Destiny)
  15. I really like how JW develops the Nazi theme throughout the movie, culminating in the The Spark-esque event cue The Airport. It feels like Williams wrote it with that scene in mind and then worked backwards.
  16. According to Balfe's PR, they recorded 5 hours of music so there's actually much more unreleased for that
  17. The Nazi theme is kind of like if Anthem of Evil was actually used in the TROS score (the melody itself is a lot more simple and effective too). Also it has a great "villain's destruction" moment that we never really got in the ST (Snoke and Palpatine's deaths were both scored with the upbeat renditions force theme)
