I need to give that one more attention. I listened to twice over a year ago and I remember thinking it was beautifully orchestrated and performed but didn't really connect with the melodies in a meaningful way.

At World's End is indeed the best Pirates score; a fun, ultra-melodic score that is unfortunately still held back by crummy orchestrations.

I wonder if Rian would answer a really geeky, specific question about the score? Like whether he asked for any new themes or requested JW quote certain themes in certain scenes.

Score: Crusade
With Crusade Spielberg brought a maturity and worldliness to his Lucas's vision. No longer just a post-modern spin on 30s serials, at its heart, the film is a father-son character piece. The filmmaking is as technically assured as its predecessors, if only more understated.
For the score, I'll just post this.

La La Land - Justin Hurwitz
Still in my regular rotation, still as brilliant as when I first heard it, and still mostly underrated by the film score enthusiast community. Hurwitz is an incredibly talented melodicist, an ability sadly lacking in most film composers today. I really just hope he starts scoring films for directors other than Chazelle, I want to hear him take on other challenges!
