The opening third is the worst offender. It feels like a complete cut and paste job of schizophrenic borrowing, not just from the Indy scores but from the likes of Minority Report and War of the Worlds as well.

I can't believe cobbling together the prologue from such little snippets of Indiana Jones music was very satisfying.

The rest 2/3 of the score when it steers into new writing has some quite excellent moments in it. Not on the level of the previous Indy scores but still very nice.

Just finished it. The last third of the score, beginning with To the Airport, flows much better in complete form! The OST had a decent listening experience, but in C&C it has much more space to breathe and tell a narrative, especially the last third.

Overall, a fine score aside from the messy opening.

I think I am going to listen to the whole set from start to finish. Hearing the complete score in full for the first time will be glorious! I am certain disc 3 will be a fascinating collection of materials, songs, alternates and source music, but the actual film score in chronological order is certainly a priority for me.

This might be  a weird one.

My dad had the original UK release for the first Lucky Luke movie on vinyl. Being familiar with the comics, I was intrigued by this music and listened to it without having seen the film. I think this might have been the first soundtrack I ever listened to. Certainly the first one I listened to without having seen the film. I might have been ten or eleven. It was before I found out who John Williams was anyway.

Now apparently, Music Box Records released the complete score this year, sourced from the original masters, along with the score from the second movie and the second season of the TV show from 1990 (which I probably watched as a kid) in this 3-CD set. Limited to only 300 copies, I felt I just had to get it for nostalgia's sake. It arrived two days ago and I'm halfway through the final disc now. Made a playlist that matches that original LP too. Kinda fun to hear this again after so many years.

Oh yeah, also ordered this. Because I had to:

Lol, people are so desperate after 32 years waiting to hear everything, 11 of which were spent with a faulty deluxe edition, that even the smallest possibility of a single second of imperfection is enough to cause anxiety, angst and despair

The 12-page booklet has the tracklist, the credits, the special thanks, the AFM musicians listing, and a little something special.

The 48 page booklet is all liner notes.

Well, both booklets are full of Jim Titus art design and photos, of course.

    It's real. It exists.

Once again it didn't feel real until I actually saw and held it as a three dimensional object. So much work went into this with so many people involved. It's taken years but here it is!

I can't emphasize strongly enough that listeners should enjoy the crafted album experience of Disc 3 as we've presented it. I'm so thrilled this can finally be shared.

My copy finally arrived to Finland today. Of course I had to pay extra 10 € for VAT and postal service fee. One of the most expensive regular OST albums I ever bought for certain. Hopefully I'll see my CD delivered next week.

Although the musical is far from being a favorite of mine, I’d say The Question (and its Reprise), Am I Beautiful, Improbable As Spring, Replay The Game and So Many Other Worlds are the highlights.

Sadly, the cast recording just isn’t very good as the vocal performances -though technically fine- reach several levels of pure and utter annoyance.

I would really like the hear the aforementioned songs performed by a different cast. It might change my opinion of Williams’ work.

    That’s what I am hoping.

Hook is one of the scores that got me into collecting. I used to watch the movie just for the score. I was a child, mind you. Sometimes I’d just skip to keys scenes like The Face of Pan or the Never Feast or The Ultimate War. I finally got the OST as a gift right around 2001 or maybe a little earlier. I loved it but immediately noticed how much was missing. (At that time “The Stories are True” was one of my most wanted cues! Early Grail.) Then the hunt for its bootlegs in the early days of the internet was a quest I shared with multiple friends. I can still remember the excitement of reading track lists of bootlegs I hadn’t yet been able to find and wringing my little hands in frustrated glee. One of my friends and I met over him telling me he could get me a 4-disc complete Hook. I can remember the disappointment of finding out how many sound effects there still were… and that the extra tracks on the 4-disc bootleg were mostly the tracks from the Williams on Williams album. I can also remember spending hours editing together a version of the Ultimate War that was all one track… just to find a better one right after.

These new memories will slot right in and I can’t wait. I really love this score. I’ve been craving some Yuppie Sounds.
