  1. Home Alone for both musical and personal reasons. It is a Top Ten personal favorite score for me. Nothing evokes family memories and happy feelings like that music.
  2. To me, the Home Alone presentation is great. I know there is the debate on film order, intended flow, etc. Personally, I like both. When it's a film I know and love (like Home Alone), the music as presented in the film is a HUGE thing for me. So with that release, I just threw the insert in there before the longer/combined track and in iTunes, specified the start time of the other track to start after the trapeze part of the track. Didn't even have to edit.
  3. I want a complete Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves almost as much as Hook. There were a few scores that would rekindle my love for film music as a child and Robin Hood was one of them. I was eleven when the film came out and the music just grabbed me. I hope it gets a complete release. Also, didn't the makers of the Elfman bocset get some material from LaLaLand for the Batman discs? I could see them releasing some other material from the box in exchange (POTA maybe). I wouldn't complain about Scrooged though! This is going to be a great year!
  4. I could watch that Sleigh Ride video all day. Thank you!
  5. I think that cue would be 15m1 The Approach; I also wondered why it was left off of the CD despite being quoted favorably by Williams in the liner notes. I also miss 4m4. Are those two cues on any other release(s)?
  6. If it were lossless files instead of the mp3s I could at least stomach that. Lossy downloads are a no-go for me. I love the physical product but if the market must go the download route then lossless must be demanded.
  7. I have those tracks too. They are not DVD rips.
  8. I don't want CD's to go away, but I can tolerate it IF lossless downloads are an option. For me (and this might sound nuts to some), I buy CD's and then make perfect flac rips using EAC that I archive digitally. I then make a conversion to lossless m4a which I import to iTunes. That can then be played via any of my computers, through my stereo or on my iPod. I can also burn a quick CD of whatever I want for the car or whatever. My music stays lossless unless it is completely unavailable otherwise. I will only buy/obtain lossy music when it is the only option. Hopefully, lossless options become more prevalent soon. I would hate the physical products to go away though. A pdf just can't replace the wonderful book of notes that accompanied my Superman Blue Box.
  9. Trust me. I'm not editing a thing out of Home Alone. Literally a Top 5 score for me. The first "non action" (ie, Star Wars/Raiders/Superman) that I fell in love with...well, this and "The Boy Who Could Fly" - I loved that one too. I could listen to it almost anytime, but I try to constrain myself to Christmas because the film was such a staple when I was a kid. So many memories and all that.
  10. I can tell you where all the songs go when I get home. I know this movie better than almost any other except maybe Superman. Haha. When I was a kid, I watched my favorites non-stop. Anyways, I made a chronological playlist including the songs plus the two that weren't in the OST (Run Rudolph Run and Rockin Around the Christmas Tree) I will post it when I get home later. Nevermind. Just saw the link to GoodMusician's breakdown. Sure beats what I would have posted!
  11. This movie was a childhood favorite of mine and nothing brings a smile to my face like music from movies I loved as a kid. I had the original release and while this is pretty much the same thing, I'm still thrilled to have it. Objectively, most wouldn't consider it among Williams' best but as a sentimental pick for me, it can't be beat.
  12. I love this disc. Easily my personal favorite of the year. Then again, I've always had a sentimental attachment to Home Alone. I've listened to the entire thing five or six times since I received it. Love it, love it, love it!
  13. Yes. They changed that a while ago. Most audio is DRM-free, though the files are embedded with your email address.
  14. Can the film edit of the Clothesline Trapeze cue be created from the LaLaLand track? Just curious. Mine hasn't arrived yet. Thanks!
  15. Easy La-La Land's is definitely the best. The original CBS version isn't that great, I never really cared for it. Plus the sound quality on La-La Land's is ten times better. This is one of the few films where the songs are important to me as well, so I'll be making two playlists for this thing - the purely orchestral one in film order with alternates at the end. The second one will the score in film order (alternates at the end) with the songs from the CBS release inserted in the appropriate places along with the two that weren't included (Run Rudolph Run and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree). I meet even add in "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." I love this film. Love this score. Love the non-score tracks too. I think mine should arrive today! Agree 100%.
  16. I can't wait for this. I haven't been this excited for a release since the Superman Blue Box. I absolutely adore the Home Alone score.
  17. My order says, "Pending Review." Is that a bad thing? Using the same CC I always use online.
  18. I can't wait for this. I'm ordering it tomorrow as soon as it's available. How has LLL been on shipping recently? Just curious how quickly to expect it. I'm in the USA. I want this thing to enjoy for the Christmas season.
  19. True. I was being facetious abou the limewire, of course. But even if John Williams doesn't use computers at all, I'm sure there are plenty of people in his immediate vicinity who do. It is surprising how many composers are willing to share their work, whether they are legally entitled to do so or not. If I were John Williams and a friend casually said, "Hey man, my friend is a huge fan. He loves Duel of the Fates and would kill for a copy without the choir - is that available anywhere?" If I didn't have it handy (and I would - I'm an obsessive archivist-type person), I'd make a call to one of my people and say, "Hey, send me Duel of the Fates sans vocals," and I'd give it to him. Now, if it's on a commercial CD, I'd tell him what disc has it, but otherwise, I'd give it to him. I spoke to a composer once about some of his work. He was going to send it to me, then he emailed back telling me it was going to be released in about siz weeks. About four weeks later, I got a package out of the blue with a copy of the commercial CD (2 weeks early) and a friendly note saying that if it didn't have everything I had called looking for then to email him and he'd track down the cue(s) I wanted. I think many of these guys are happy to see their work appreciated and get it into the hands of people who are passionate about it. I have spent thousands on film scores over the years and will do so until I die. If a composer makes himself available to his/her fans, I have no qualms about contacting that person about music that is otherwise unavailable. As to Family Plot, you better believe I downloaded the leaked sessions. Absolutely. I also ordered the official release the day it was announced. I download every decent fan edit of the Star Wars prequels too but I also own every disc they've ever released and when/if they release the complete sessions, I'll absolutely buy them. When that Indiana Jones stuff leaked, I downloaded it - I also bought the full set the day it was available (and sadly deleted those leaked files before realizing the few alternates that were part of the leak). I'm sorry; I'm writing too much - slow day at work! Sorry.
  20. In the modern "digital age," I'm honestly surprised that more stuff doesn't get out there. Through a friend, I was put in contact with a certain composer. While he is not of Williams/Goldsmith stature by any stretch of the imagination, he was a composer of various film and TV projects. He's older now and retired. I called him up inquiring about an obscure score he did for a made-for-TV movie back in the early 80's. While on the phone, he started going through his iTunes library. He was quite tech-savvy and explained that he had had digital files made of all the scores to which he could get access to the original elements. Then he imported Apple lossless copies into his iTunes library for quick reference. This gentleman is in his 80's. He was super gracious and we talked for about an hour. He actually didn't have what I was looking for due to a hard drive crash a year or two ago and a "failed" backup plan that didn't actually backup some of his music. Anyways, he said he'd call the guy that transferred the tapes for him originally. He said he's pretty sure that guy keeps personal copies of everything he transfers for film/tv projects. Anyways, stuff is floating around. Almost any of the music we want that has been created in the digital/pro tools era is sitting on someone's hard drive - and not just the composer's/studio's. That stuff is out there - probably in multiple iterations/versions from different stages of the composition process. I'd kill for an hour at John Williams' computer with my external HD. But just THINK about how much stuff is out there? One assistant with an unencrypted laptop that gets left at an airport...one person shares something with a friend via Megaupload or something...John Williams' grandson loads Limewire onto Granddad's computer and points the share directory to all his good stuff unknowingly... haha. More stuff seemingly gets leaked today than ever before (at least into semi-wide distribution) but I'm still shocked that even more doesn't make it into the open. Then again, I realize we are a relatively small (though obsessed) community of fans.
  21. Thanks! I figured he wouldn't but just wanted to be sure. Thanks again!
  22. Dang it. This makes three must buys from LLL for me and one very strong maybe (Jade). Nobody should let the quality of STV as a film prevent you from getting this score. It is not only a great Trek score but also a great Jerry score and just an enjoyable experience. As incomplete as the existing disc is, I enjoy it very much.
