  2. Dennis Waterman writes and performs the song, hands down ^^

    You guys dont like cliffhangers?

For TV series episodes, sure. For films, not really. Even if they are part of a bigger story, I feel it's better for them to have some sort of conclusion (something even PJ and Co understood when making LOTR).

As it is, the DOS cliffhanger feels like a cheap marketing ploy to get asses back in seats in December 2014, not like a satisfying ending for the film. The fact that they didn't kill Smaug in DOS shows that they didn't believe the audience would be invested enough in the characters and the story to come back for the third film if the dragon was killed at the end of the second film.

It definitely is cheap, but it's working for me for sure to put my ass back in the theater seat.
And I don't know if those worries are true, but I can say I haven't invested enough in the characters.

  13. By the way, has Doug Adams already commented on the naming structure of the cues? Seems to be a bit different than those on the LotR films. Like the cue "Feast of Starlight" was slated mr172 718 901. I wonder if 172 is the cue slate and 718 and 901 describes the scenes the music will be placed in?

Hey FunnyML, where did you come across that cue number, and do you know any others?

Video Blog 14 is full of those, a small list:

    mr132A

    mr132B

    mr143A

    mr153C

    mr162

    mr251

    mr255

    mr272A+B

Nevermind, I answered my own question (actually, KK found it). You can see it at 4:14 of the vlog:

    Okay :)

  14. But to be honest, Beyond The Forest, and especially when the Tauriel/Kili theme comes in on full chorus, was pretty much the first piece that recreated the feeling of hearing some LotR highlights for the first time. It convinced me that Shore still has it.

Also my favorite moment. Sad that I was the only guy in the theater sitting through the entire credits sequence to enjoy it.

  17. It's just two different ways of writing the same thing, by the rMc method is much easier to read imo

It is easier to read and I prefer it that way as well. But I tried to make clear on the example of The Polar Express, that simply moving the 'M' between the numbers doesn't seem to be accurate.
