  1. That's the Obi-wan from the prequels, our Obi-wan has clearly fallen far from his best.
  2. Nah, it wouldn't have saved the scene. In fact, the imperial march would have been indelibly ruined if it had been used there.
  3. I liked Obi-wan et Leia's interactions better in this episode, especially their undercover stint on the truck and Obi-wan opening up about his family. And wait, he said that he wishes Leia were his daughter, is that supposed to mean that he regrets not having children of his own, or that he was in love with Padme ? Vader looked a little wrong in television format, and A LOT wrong in that first scene on Mustaphar. That was horribly done. You don't reintroduce an iconic character like this with a boring business phone call. The voice was good though, so that was that. I appreciate and respect that they are sticking to an unheroic and out of his depth Obi-wan, but that means his character arc better resolve with some sparks...
  4. I'm particularly fond of the 3 notes build-up at the end of the theme (especially the string-heavy arrangement at 3:30 in the single). It's so simple and effective, both tragic and hopeful. It reminds me musically and spiritually of the last phrase of Rey's Theme, which in a way makes sense given that Obi-Wan and Rey are pretty much in the same situation when we meet them: alone in the desert, eating instant meal while watching the sun...
  5. I like it ! And it fits the description made by Natalie Holt. Now I wonder how (or if) it's going to be used for the title sequence in the show. Not long now !
  6. That's great news, but... I'm disappointed if that means implicitly that Matt Smith and Capaldi won't return.
  7. Didn't see the announcement coming, I expected more fanfare. Neutral on the actor choice, I hope it's not merely to draw the Sex Education crowd. Wait and see.
  8. Wow, never noticed that they had so many franchises in common ! And now that I think about it, Elfman and Zimmer also share 5 "franchises" : Batman, Mission Impossible, Spider-Man, Snyder/Whedon's Justice League, and the Hannibal Lecter trilogy.
  9. Thanks, I wasn't aware of that release. Obviously I bought the wrong one ! Anyway I guess it must be overpriced on the secondary market, a new release would do nicely.
  10. - Valley of the Dolls - The Reivers - Cinderella Liberty - Oliver Stone Trilogy: kill 3 birds with one release ! - Angela's Ashes: the narration needs to go
  11. I don't quite dare to hope for something as good as Rey's Theme. I"d be happy for something along the lines of Rebellion Is Reborn but I don't think Obi-Wan in Exile musically will strike the same tone as Luke in Exile. As far as comparisons with the Force Theme go, that one has been so overused recently, I think we're all ready to give it a rest and listen to something else.
  12. Yeah, I saw an old man on the photos and "alan silvestri music" underneath, and for a few seconds I thought Silvestri was doing it.
  13. After that good (!) New Year episode, that one was pretty, pretty bad. Painful effects, bad directing, empty guest characters and villains, boring story. Only saving grace was some good acting from Yaz and the Doctor toward the end.
  14. 5 film pieces with cello played by Yo Yo Ma, possibly rearranged beyond the instrument switch, plus Highwood's Ghost, plus a newish Cello Concerto ? Ordered !
  15. So far I can't think of a better example than Duel of the Fates. Big choral music entering Star Wars !
  16. At last !! I hope I'll be able to attend ! Feels a little weird that it's scheduled on a monday.
  17. Counterpoint : the movie was great, so making it wasn't that dumb of an idea. Go Spielberg !
  18. I'm far from sure that the average European has traveled to America even once
  19. I find this kind of inventory infuriating. Even in 2022 we get people who think they're smart or original by pointing those so-called similarities. Typically half of the examples are bad faith ("Jaws is the beginning of Dvorak's ninth symphony's fourth mouvement !"), the other half are temptrack in the original Star Wars. My "favorite" is when the Star Wars main title gets compared to both Kings Row and that brief melody in Manon Lescaut: am I supposed to think that Williams took the beginning of the Kings Row fanfare and added that random bit from Manon Lescaut and called it a day ? Talk about conspiracy theory !
