eitam reacted to Richard Penna in The Official Star Wars Expanded Score Petition Thread
I support the petition as it is, but I think a higher priority are the prequels. Not having the music (or at best, cobbled together from video games) is a more problematic case than wanting a remaster of a score where 90 something % of the music is there.

eitam reacted to Tom in John Williams Writes New Theme for ESPN College Football Championship - OF GRIT AND GLORY
The first version focused on big gushers of oil shooting up from the ground, but they opted to go with NASA version instead (which, ironically, uses lots of lots of oil in those rockets).

eitam reacted to Bespin in Jon Burlingame Article on "Wearing Somebody Else's Underwear"
I'm disappointed by this thread; I really thought it would be about underwear.

eitam reacted to Schilkeman in My prediction for 2024
Didn't you know he stole it all from Burroughs, and that Gary Kurtz was the secret genius of Star Wars? I spend time on the internet, so I knew that.

eitam got a reaction from GerateWohl in Your Top 10 Howard Shore non-Middle Earth Scores

eitam got a reaction from Edmilson in 20 years ago: remembering the best scores from 2004
There was also Steamboy (my favourite Jablonsky, and a great movie too), Howl's Moving Castle (Miyazaki + Hisaishi, what more need be said), and the first season of Battlestar Galactica which put Bear McCreary on the map.

eitam reacted to QuartalHarmony in If I was Steven Spielberg I would immediately commission JW to write dozens upon dozens of varying themes & suites to be used when, well, ya know…
…otherwise, he’d have done it himself years ago to save time!
INTERIOR, STUDY, DAY
TITLE CARD: 1982
Williams (leafing through large book of sheet music): Hmm, let’s see… love themes (checks index)… love themes… here we go. Love themes, neo-romantic… love themes, expressive… love themes, tragic… ah, here it is: love themes, incestuous. Just cut and paste one of them for Luke & Leia… perfect. All done. Anyone for tea?

eitam reacted to Giftheck in Deadline's December 31st Article on John Williams
2022: "Indiana Jones is my last film score, I'm retiring from film scoring"
2023: Lucasfilm announces the Daisy Ridley film
Also 2023: "When I said I was retiring, I didn't mean I was retiring"
Coincidence? 🤔

eitam got a reaction from Giftheck in Will JW score the Rey Skywalker movie?
It's not too late for Williams to write a theme for Rey. Remember, he had to wait till Attack of the Clones before he could write the series' first love theme.

eitam reacted to Taikomochi in New details on Williams / Ross Dial Of Destiny collaboration via new LA Times article by Tim Greiving
Ross is clearly too old to keep up and should have retired instead of having this blemish on his career. Then JW could have written the whole score…

eitam reacted to bollemanneke in The La-La Land Black Friday 2023 thread
I mean it's not like they're going to beat Disney's new Indy set so why bother really?

eitam reacted to Tom in New details on Williams / Ross Dial Of Destiny collaboration via new LA Times article by Tim Greiving
There is no need for anyone to freak out. Ross only wrote the good parts.

eitam reacted to Bespin in Ecoutez le cinéma John Williams release - The Legend of John Williams 20CD box set
New post on Écoutez le Cinéma: an excerpt from an interview with Jean-Jacques Annaud discussing his collaboration with John Williams on 'Seven Years in Tibet.'
https://www.facebook.com/EcoutezLeCinema/videos/1504246200308303/
Okay, for those who don't understand French, here is the translation: Annaud reveals that working with John Williams was challenging; it was complicated, and he contemplated firing him at least seven times during the process.

eitam reacted to Cristian Lee in James Newton Howard - THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES
I'm also excited for this especially that it will be more orchestral than electronic. Great autumn for JNH fans with Night After Night, All the Light and soon a new Hunger Games score.

eitam reacted to JTN in The Official La-La Land Records Thread
Balfe has written more music to Mission: Impossible 7 1/2 than John Williams and Howard Shore have to Star Wars and LotR combined.
I hope that in time everyone will realize what a genius LB is who deserves that every note he wrote for M:I DRP1 be released on CD.
-
eitam reacted to Edmilson in The Official La-La Land Records Thread
LB seems willing to release all 14 hours of music he wrote for M: I 7 and please his fans.
If only a certain composer whose name rhymes with Sohn Billiams was willing to do the same...
