  1. for all who are attending the concert: maybe it has been posted before but the rules/information keep changing from time to time. So make sure you've had a look (tests, masks, etc.) https://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/concerts/visiting-information/
  2. I'm up for anything but majority voted of saturday after the concert trains are going during the night, too (on weekends) – if that's your concern.
  3. I'm happy to book a table for the Lindenbräu at Potsdamer Platz for 10:30 pm. Just give this post a like if you want to join. For a post-concert drink it's the best opportunity, I guess. Instead of getting public transport…
  4. I would suggest this. You can sit outside, it’s less than a 5 minutes walk from BPhil and it’s (apparently) typical German. 😅 Lindenbräu am Potsdamer Platz https://goo.gl/maps/uCYR1GYLQsNrSuG1A
  5. ok, here we go. Regarding the wall there are 3 major and very different spots in Berlin. 1. East Side Gallery (open-air gallery on the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Side_Gallery https://goo.gl/maps/jfJ2HLZDquMnhgA78 2. Bernauer Strasse memorial site (open air museum where you can get a pretty good and spatial idea of the whole thing) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gedenkstätte_Berliner_Mauer https://goo.gl/maps/kLJ8AzTfNtDxRXKBA 3. Topography of Terror https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topography_of_Terror https://goo.gl/maps/QUtSrR3bmoTZpnPN6 I strongly recommend No. #2 famous curry wurst takeaway https://goo.gl/maps/G387XxFzpA9Hwfih8 I really CAN'T recommend Checkpoint Charlie. There's nothing to see there, despite students dressed up as US soldiers for taking photos. If you're looking for some Soviet vibes you have to go to Treptower Park https://goo.gl/maps/7SvQAgS7revgPZwy7 or stroll along Karl-Marx-Allee (yes) starting at Alexanderplatz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl-Marx-Allee The official place for movie premieres in the former GDR is one of the most beautiful cinemas in Germany. The bar still looks very authentic. They're showing movies in English there as well. https://yorck.de/kinos/kino-international https://goo.gl/maps/T23WV2qYg9jZVWjM6 my favourite neighbourhood (for drinks and food) is in Prenzlauer Berg around Kollwitzplatz https://goo.gl/maps/sh1Jm9hmVSZjGAeFA Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg is also nice and famous https://goo.gl/maps/DZcPUtryd21cmiS37 There are two really nice beer gardens, one in the government district https://goo.gl/maps/KdZsr2qM91SzBvSx9 the other in Tiergarten https://goo.gl/maps/oFV11UMvMukh76a79 The city models are really interesting (no entrance fee btw) https://www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.de/planen/stadtmodelle/en/ausstellung.shtml https://goo.gl/maps/4fv5TL6tPowPEJhu7 btw we have federal elections tomorrow https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/15/german-elections-explained-chancellor-bundestag-voting-parties-and-merkel.html oh and OF COURSE the Museum of Musical Instruments, just next to the Philharmonie. It's really fascinating. They have Europe's largest cinema and theatre organ, the four-manual “Mighty Wurlitzer” https://www.museumsportal-berlin.de/en/museums/musikinstrumenten-museum-simpk/
  6. I'm sure this had been done and discussed before, but I wanted to do it nevertheless. 1034547284_NoTimeToFall.mp3
  7. I got James Horner's autograph 2013 in Vienna. Felt awful afterwards. Still do. Seems like such a waste to spend this tiny amount of time that you get to spend with your hero(s) watching them to write their name on something....
  8. I really don't see the point of Marion's Theme AND Yoda's Theme in a concert, tbh. Especially Marion's Theme next to Raider's March… Oh well.
  9. 3G stands for vaccinated, overcome infection or tested while a 2G regime excludes those who are only tested.
  10. aah, lovely. That snippet sounds familiar though. Did this quote pop up somewhere else before?
  11. sorry, today is my sensitive day. But this is nonsense. Not every „true“ fan (whatever that means) has the time, the necessary access to the „available“ materials or the technology to do this – or (in my case) just can't be arsed to spend time doing this.
  12. Watched Deep Impact the other day and it’s always so heartbreaking. It has great scenes and images. I wonder though if I react so sensitive because I first saw it when I was 12…
  13. not gonna happen, but: T-Rex Rescue and Finale. It really should become a standard. And it's doable. No choir, barely any synths... Oh well. One can only dream.
  14. Hm, Saturday is the winner so far. @Miguel Andrade@Thor@rough cut @toothlessyou haven't voted for Saturday evening – do you think you could make it anyway or is it impossible for you at all?
  15. yes my previous avatar name was lemoncurd but I prefer my real name to be visible and I like Iceland, so it's Icelandic for lemon.
  16. I would suggest this beer garden in the heart of the government district. No idea though if it’s open in mid October (the restaurant surely is). Will check that out! https://www.zollpackhof.de/en/welcome-to-zollpackhof/ https://goo.gl/maps/gC2X68GbidSsbGGK7
  17. Actually I'd prefer an outdoor meeting, too. October CAN be very lovely in Berlin. Or very rainy and cold.
  18. you're not booking a seat but just a ticket. There's also the opportunity to subscribe to the digital concert hall for access to all streams. https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/info
  19. I live in Berlin and could suggest a couple of suitable places to meet.
  20. In ROTS he even asks for 3 „guillotine drums“! (1m6, Count Dooku's Entrance) @philw I'd use a very low tuned field drum without snares.
