I actually have come round to that one. It is at least an attempt at melody. Zimmer's "two note" fart trombones is the lowest the character has reached.
-
What film score theme/melody is going through your head right now?
TheUlyssesian replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
The Guns of Navorone - a total rip roaring big ballsy brassy main theme of golden age Hollywood. Love it. 3:01 here -
Which I imagine they will. A friend of mine who listens to score soundtracks never recognized the theme in the trailer when we went to see The Matrix. I bet the theme will receive more praise from fans once the movie is out.

Holy shit! This comment made me go back and read the first few posts of this thread. And I came across my own post and realized how prescient I was! This is what I had written - And holy shitballs, would you know it - Krennick's theme incidentally steals the Imperial March. Hear below - That folks 47 seconds in is literally his Batman theme. One or more of these things is true - 1. I can see into the future 2. Gia reads these boards 3. Gia is that predictable
-
I will give them credit for one thing - even before the release of the film - Gia's Batman "theme" - let's call it that for now - has become one of the most famous and widely recognized "themes" in recent superhero memory. 3 things help it being already in the general consciousness - 1. It's constant use in the movie's marketing 2. It being stolen almost outright from one of the famous movie themes in the history of cinema 3. It being so simple and simplistic

Michael Giacchino's SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME (2021)
TheUlyssesian replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
It's a good theme. But can I say its a bit oddly applied to a location. Maybe it might have been more resonant had it been applied to living things. I think the most resonant themes - in most cases - are resonant because they speak to a person or a people or a connection between persons/peoples. The greatest theme ever written for a location - Tara' theme - is arguably as much a theme for Scarlett as it is a theme for Tara. That outside the way, I don't think Gia can come close to matching the hey dey of Goldsmith's romanticism. I mean check out the sweep, scope and harmony of a piece like this. It has beauty and grandeur to spare but also feels like it actually represents an idea about the mystery and enigma of space - even though it is ostensibly a character theme. You have a competent theme from Gia, but nothing more than that I am afraid. -

Can anyone help me place this song. It is a super famous song which is used as an entry song in sporting events - something sickness of the mind, disease of the mind, illness of the mind/brain something like that? -

Chrisitian Clemmensen is meh on the score. https://www.filmtracks.com/titles/spiderman_no_home.html He trashes Gia for not using the Elfman and Horner themes more prominently. I think that's a fair criticism, something I myself raised. -
Patrick Doyle's DEATH ON THE NILE (2022)

Billing is decided by contracts. It doesn't dictate who they used to promote the film. It's clearly the have decided to promote it around Gadot now since they can't promote it around Hammer. You could say in the current cast, Gadot is the biggest draw, so she gets prominent placement on the posters and in the trailers regardless of billing. -

It's coming Feb 11. New poster and trailer. Disney again pulling that "how to cut a trailer around your leading man by showing as few shots of him as possible" trick. Check out the teaser, this new trailer has way less Hammer. -
Both films are classics and superb. And both scores are great. I remember bits of both scores. But I will go with Body Heat for score. It's main theme is just outstanding. It is just dripping with sultriness, seadiness and lust. It is so fitting. I would say this theme is definitely a bit of precursor for themes from similar sex films like Goldsmith's Basic Instinct and Anne Dudley's Elle.

Pity the Horner and Elfman Spiderman themes are featured so briefly. Did Gia miss a trick by not featuring them prominently? I mean imagine full blast orchestral renditions of the 3 Spiderman themes (Hornder, Elfman, Gia) one to the other, one to the other, during the entire final section when the 3 Spiderman team up. I mean wouldn't that be grand. -

I know you aren't saying that but WSS was absolutely meant as a spectacle too. And still failed. -

Much the same. Let's be honest. Spiderman shows that people will go to the theaters if they want to. This just isn't appealing to audiences. I don't know what they were thinking when they gave this movie a 100 million dollar budget. -

I for one am absolutely elated with this movie's failure. It was remade for all the wrong reasons. -
Guaranteed. Take it to the bank he's winning.

Lol i didn't realize that it was just the Lucy theme! I have actually only seen clips from the show, not an episode in full. It sounds good slowed down and in symphonic mode. I am wondering they didn't they just make that the main theme. -

It's a strange conundrum. I think it can be an ego thing. I think the Elfman and Horner themes are just obviously better that his own theme. So maybe he felt egotistical in not letting them shine and keeping his own theme for all the big moments. But he was not always this way. He was more than happy - more than happy - to give the stage to the Alexander Courage theme for Star Trek for extended period of times rather than his own new main theme which contrary to his Spiderman theme is quite good. Fun fact, as I was typing the sentence above I tried to hum the Star Trek theme to myself to remind me how good it is and I ended up humming the Dr. Strange theme. Go figure! -

Anyone know what the theme is that plays from 56 seconds in the Being the Ricardos trailer?
