  1. Just an update the La La Land 2nd JW title scheduled for this year has now been deferred to 2015. You can go back to your EMPIRE OF THE SUN complete 2cd set in the meantime. Where did you hear this? from the Big folks at La La Land. It has do with the delays in approval, artwork etc.. stay tuned. Why are you winking? Is there more to this. Well, my guess on the announcement / release is January or February of next year. Only a few months. I agree. Lets hope that its not a big delay to this exquisite release. But I can also add that MV teased as follows " ... 2015 will have some great stuff by him " Oh, great. More anticipation. Not only this, but Star Wars, Episode VII too!
  2. Just an update the La La Land 2nd JW title scheduled for this year has now been deferred to 2015. Oh, man! The eager wait continues... Well, anything that is delayed is definitely worth waiting for, especially when it comes to the Maestro. Plus, we also get his piece "Conversations" released in 2015 as well. Great stuff.
  3. Why did they not do the same for this release? I do not get it.
  4. Even more of a disappointment; the possibility that the unreleased material had their master tapes uncovered. Would you happen to have a link to that article per chance?
  5. No, it is not there. It is basically the previous release, just with a second disc containing demos. Not interested.
  6. Well, that is disappointing. There is a few musical moments that are still unreleased, specifically the scene when Phillip is captured by Maleficent and her henchmen.
  7. I believe so. The first was Empire of the Sun. The second release is coming soon.
  8. I know that Black Friday is in the Fall; I was just giving the word from the source that another expanded release will be coming soon.
  9. "... from the La La Land team during the Tracksounds soundcast in which they won the label of the year award for 2013. They have 2 John Williams projects in line for 2014. First one is expected around spring (or summer) schedule and the 2nd one around Fall 2014. All subject to approvals but you guys can take your guess." "You can listen to the podcast here:" http://www.tracksounds.com/default.htm
  10. I predict that La La Land Records' next expanded release of the Maestro's music will be announced and released sometime between September and October.
  11. Hello. I just watched the bonus features on Munich (the 2 Disc DVD Collector's Edition). On the featurette that discussed the score, there was a shot of a cue sheet. The cue shown was 2M9 "Drawing Straws." Does anybody know what the other cue titles are for the rest of the score? Also, a general discussion of the score is welcome, such as thematic material, Lisbeth Scott's hauntingly beautiful vocals, dark orchestration, etc.
  12. Actually, it is not a kid's movie. It appeals to people of all ages. Why else is The Lion King , to this day, the number one highest grossing and successful (both critically and commercially) traditionally animated film in history? It has a story that reaches out to all people, it has great characters, excellent acting, beautiful artistry, and fantastic music.
  13. Have you ever thought about going into record company publicity/marketing? Not really. I am just a happy consumer.
  14. You really should. It is like hearing the score for the first time, and in the way it was meant to be heard. Well, I've never listened to any version of this score, so that's not an issue ...Wow. Apart from the film, I only listened to the 16 minutes of edited score offered on the 1994 original soundtrack. I was not pleased. Until now, I was hoping Disney would release Hans Zimmer's complete score to the film. It is great; the music as heard in the film (the way it was mixed in the finished film) is nothing compared to how all of the music was remastered for this release. This release presents the music as it was meant to sound, conserving the original recordings in remastered quality.
  15. You really should. It is like hearing the score for the first time, and in the way it was meant to be heard.
  16. Actually, the correct translation is this: Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (A lion and a leopard come to this open place).
  17. Cool! Specifically, these cues have the London choir and the African choir led by Lebo M. - "We Are All Connected," "I Was Just Trying to Be Brave," "Stampede," "Mufasa Dies," "Remember Who You Are," "This Is My Home," and "The Rightful King." The ones utilizing only the London choir: "Didn't Your Mother Tell You Not to Play With Your Food" (briefly), "Elephant Graveyard" (briefly), "Simba, It's to Die For," and "Kings of the Past."
  18. Those notes, score scar's evil laugh in "be prepared". I think when he is killed, and those notes are played again, you can hear hyena's laughs Exactly.
  19. Concerning the recording of Stampede, in the DVD commentary, they mention that, in addition to Lebo M. and his African choir group, they had a London chorus used as well. I think it was used in other cues as well, Mufasa Dies being another cue to utilize this in addition to Lebo's choral group.
  20. The reason it is irony is in relation to Scar and the hyenas. It is that Scar desired to use the hyenas to further his plan of a tyrannical rule over the Pride Land, and yet he made the fatal mistake of blaming the hyenas for Scar killing his own brother and Simba's father, Mufasa. The hyenas, having overheard this, turn traitor on Scar and kill him. The musical identification of the ending notes to "Be Prepared" used at the exact moment that Scar is devoured by the hyenas confirms this irony.
  21. Interesting... I love the use of the ending notes of "Be Prepared" at 8:08 in The Rightful King. It is really ironic.
  22. "Ed?" I knew it ! That no good cross-eyed mangy bastard... LOL! LOL
