  1. Well, you see, I wasn't going for "development" as they are obviously too far apart in that area. I was going for more "enjoyable" (guess I should have already pointed that out *slaps self*). The 2 share 1 main similarity...heroic.
  2. Which of these 2 themes is the "better" theme?
  3. Does anyone know what "Genius of the Restoration...Aid our own resuscitation!" means? It occurs at the beginning of the Belly of the Beast scene in Crusade. It's funny, but I'd like to know what it means. Thanks.
  4. Now, what if you had to pick 1 favorite, what would it be? (Let me guess...the BS rendition)
  5. Thank ya, guys. I know it's annoying to tell me this when I should just look for it...but laziness rules over. Though I don't want ya to perceive me as a newbie. Cause I ain't. I just don't say much here...partially due to the log in "mess".
  6. I did what it said. (Except send you a nickel. ) Nothing new. Let's see if it'll now magically began to work.
  7. This stupid...something! Computer, site, I don't know! But, I log in, I stay logged in for 1 minute, and then I'm automatically logged out. It's annoying. Can anyone help me? (Fast typing)
  8. As many as you can give me! Even specific composer sites if you want. Thanks.
  9. I know of a few film music sites: here, filmscoremonthly, moviemusic, filmtracks, soundtrack.net, scorereviews. What other big ones are there?
  10. I HATE tracked music. It's sad that it's in all 6 episodes of Star Wars...such great music, and in all 3 LOTR...the best music (though the tracking doesn't compare to SW).
  11. Hello. (been gone a while) What are your favorite Force theme renditions? My favorites: EpI- The Tide Turns (the 1st one), EpII- The Arena (at end), EpIII- Revenge of the Sith (beg.), EpIII- dvd- Goodbye Old Friend (Kenobi flys away), EpIV- Binary Sunset ("), EpIV- The Throne Room (beg), EpV- Yoda and the Force (beg), EpVI- Dark Side Beckons (Vader kills Sidious), EpVI- Light of the Force (2nd one-w/ trumpets) This is my favorite theme from the Saga, and I enjoy all variations on it! Have a great day!
  12. Thanks everyone for your recommendations! I'm definitely going to get more Williams. I'm avoiding bootlegs and such for now. I really want to get the complete CutThroat Island! Legends of the Fall is another I really want to get. I'd like to get a few from the Golden Age. I'd also like a few thousand dollars to help pay for all of these that I want. 8O Thank you nightscape94 for your recommendations. I'll go fetch the plunger now !!!
  13. Well, I guess I need to get some Goldsmith, eh? A few soundtracks on my list to buy are from him. For some reason I really want to get the 13th Warrior. Thanks for your opinions (except nightscape94 ) and keep them coming. Post your own collections too (at least favorites). Have a good day!

It should be obvious as to who my 2 favorite composers are... So, what do ya think? This is my collection of 4.5 years. I owe it to my brother and JW for helping me to get into film music. I listened to the SW: OT: SE soundtracks and "fell in love" . Now LOTR is my favorite!!! Feel free to post your own collections (no matter how long they are ). I just bought (the day after Christmas): Braveheart, Narnia, and Harry Potter. I've listened to them 1 time as of right now. LOTR: FOTR: CR.......I'm almost pooped out... !!! My Christmas gift was Wagner's Ring Cycle. I've only listened to the 1st opera (but I love it!)(might make a good film...but I haven't read/listened to the rest). Top Gun is (was) my brother's. I only listen to track 10- the anthem. It's awesome! It makes me want to write music for rock & orchestra...Hah! I hope I'll be adding many more soundtracks, etc. to my collection! I just noticed something: SW: Dark Forces- the music for Fest Research Facility- the beginning of it reminds me of "The Threat of Mordor" motive from LOTR. 8O Oh, well... Happy New Year (for those of you celebrating a new year right now)!!! Later...
  15. Merry Christmas! (Or should I say "Happy Holidays"... ) Can anyone clearly explain the film music "ages" to me? I've heard of a Golden Age ('30s through '50s?) and a Silver Age ('60s through '80s?). Are we in a 3rd age right now? 4th? What's the 3rd (4th) called?...(Bronze, I would guess). Thanks for your help! Take Care
  16. I'm still waitin'....... banghead ....... Can someone quickly post all of the themes as they're mentioned in the liner notes? I just...cannot...wait. Ahhhhhhhh, the agony!!! I need Yoda's patience. (My 10th post...yay... ) Later...
  17. Hello. I hope everyone is enjoying the FOTR: CR. I'm still waiting for my copy to come in the mail. I'd like it to come this weekend. Someone mentioned that they don't understand some of the notes concerning music theory. If anyone has any questions about music theory, I'd be happy to try and answer them. I'm downloading the annotated score right now, but does anyone know if it includes a thematic track-by-track analysis? If it does, GREAT! If not, I'll get to do it myself. I really hope that there will be an "alternate cue" release after the CR releases. I hope that there will be at least an hour's worth of "alternates" from each score. I can't wait to read Doug's notes and book! 3 cheers for Doug! Take care everyone. Later...
  18. Hello. I'm waiting for my copy of the CR to arrive. I ordered it last Tuesday from Amazon and it said it would be here by the 19th. I'm very excited! The official site has been updated slightly. Later...
  19. Does anyone know if the "over 80 leitmotifs" is just for FOTR or all of LOTR? I guess we'll find out soon enough. Later...
  20. Incanus, at moviemusic.com, you said you listened to the sound clips! That means you've broken your fast! Shame on you . You were almost there! Later!
  21. Hello. Incanus, how is your "fast" coming? I'm patiently(hehe...) waiting for December 13th. I do hope that the "Breaking of the Fellowship" alternate will be included (maybe on the "The Road Goes Ever On pt. 2" track?...) in the release. In my opinion, it is more beautiful than the cue used in the film. Enjoy yer day!
  22. Incanus...you are the man! I'd love to talk for hours about the music of LOTR (and then SW) I've finally read all of this thread and the previous LOTR thread. I like your fasting idea, though I ain't gonna do it . I believe I have 39 days to wait! Just think, in 2 years we'll have all of the Complete Recordings music and the LOTR music book memorized and analyzed (with D. Adams help of course)!!! I'm so excited! Of the 9 greatest film scores(LOTR & SW-in my opinion), only 3 will remain unreleased(for now)-SW prequels. Have a great day everyone!
  23. To answer one of your questions Incanus, Michael Matessino does not mention the motif in the liner notes. I hope I'll have time to listen to all of the music of Episodes V & VI this weekend to see(hear ) if it occurs anywhere else. Also, Yoda's theme occurs very subtly on track 4 of Disc 2 (I think that is the right track...?) and it is not mentioned in the liner notes either. I think the piccolo has the melody. This weekend I'll listen for that again. Enjoy your day!
